Slav origin?[edit]

I have removed an unsourced statement recently. The ethnicity of the first known ancestor is simply not known. However the surname "Temerdek" means "numerous" or "a lot of" in Hungarian therefore Slavic origin looks a bit dubious in my opinion. Fakirbakir (talk) 20:12, 17 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

It could be of Jasz origin.--Kun Kipcsak (talk) 07:13, 16 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Jeszent / Jaseno[edit]

I did not find these names in the footnoted sources. I leave it to a chance that I have poor vision, therefore please five me an exact quotation, so that I can verify the claim. - Altenmann >t 17:55, 2 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I hope you are joking. The modern Hungarian name of the Slovak Turčianske Jaseno is Turocjeszen (check the Hungarian wiki page). The sources say the name of the family comes from the medieval Jeszen village, Turoc county. The first known ancestor, Andras Temerdek, received territories from the king around Jeszen village in Turoc county. The Hungarian wiki page even emphasizes the former parts of Turčianske Jaseno (Kisjeszen "Minor Jeszen", Nagyjeszen "Major Jeszen"). Fakirbakir (talk) 21:16, 2 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • A család első ismert őseként Járdáni Temérdek6 András túróci várjobbágyot tartják számon, akit 1255-ben Achilles nevű fi ával együtt IV. Béla király megerősített Járdán, a későbbi Kisjeszen birtokában. (Fodor p. 31)
  • Törzse állítólag a XII. sz.-ban élt Temérdek András. Nevét a turócvármegyei Jeszen-től kapta. (Pallas cyclopedia)

So, as requested, what is the verifiable source (not a link to Hungarian wiki) for the allegation? FactStraight (talk) 21:49, 2 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
What? "Allegation? Learn some Hungarian settlement history. Turčianske Jaseno consists of two former settlements. These settlements united in 1971. When these two villages belonged to Kingdom of Hungary they were called "Kisjeszen" (Small Jeszen---"Horné Jaseno" in Slovak) and "Nagyjeszen" (Large Jeszen----"Dolné Jaseno" or "Malé Jaseno" in Slovak). Would you like some proper translation? It is getting ridiculous.Fakirbakir (talk) 22:05, 2 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Please avoid insults. I requested to provide references, according to wikipedia rules. which call the settlement Jezsent, as was claimed in the article. As I see, now the claim is removed. - Altenmann >t 04:12, 4 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
