Cathriona White[edit]

Should there be more to say about Cathriona White, the following link tells her story. At least the link to the news should appear. (talk) 02:34, 5 October 2015 (UTC)

statement by Carey removed as undue[edit]

now copied to the Wikipedia:Biographies_of_living_persons/Noticeboard#Jim_Carrey Govindaharihari (talk) 05:57, 2 October 2015 (UTC)

The quote from Carey about the death of his girlfriend has been removed by User:Ryk72 citing WP:UNDUE - here is the quote

Carrey's representatives released this statement:

I am shocked and deeply saddened by the passing of my sweet Cathriona. She was a truly kind and delicate Irish flower, too sensitive for this soil, to whom loving and being loved was all that sparkled. My heart goes out to her family and friends and to everyone who loved and cared about her. We have all been hit with a lightning bolt.

the online verification was from I was asked to discuss it here, so if Ryk could please explain and others could comment, thanks Govindaharihari (talk) 05:40, 2 October 2015 (UTC)

Ryk72 is absolutely correct with regard to WP:UNDUE. She is not notable, they were never in a long-term relationship, and there are many conflicting reports among media outlets about whether or not they were even dating at the time of her death. And, of course, the article is about Carrey, not her. Nevertheless, even the brief content that Ryk72 left in may still be more than should be included based on the status of their relationship and the circumstances of her death. With regard to the tribute quote, the policy WP:NOTMEMORIAL is a very clear: "Memorials. Subjects of encyclopedia articles must satisfy Wikipedia's notability requirements. Wikipedia is not the place to memorialize deceased friends, relatives, acquaintances, or others who do not meet such requirements". Czoal (talk) 06:04, 2 October 2015 (UTC)
Well stated. I agree. TimidGuy (talk) 10:56, 2 October 2015 (UTC)
Thank you. As I mentioned in the BLP discussion, I am still very concerned about even the brief content that remains about the woman ("On September 28, 2015, Carrey's on-off girlfriend, Cathriona White, was found dead from a possibly intentional prescription drug overdose. The couple first met in 2012."). I can't think of any good reason why this information about someone Carrey only briefly dated should be included in his article. It's undisputable that she is not notable and the cirumstances of her death are contentious and inconsistent among sources. Therefore, I believe all that content should be removed. Czoal (talk) 20:44, 2 October 2015 (UTC)
  • To repeat, I am only discussing this in one location the BLP noticeboard and not forum shopping it, the link is at the top of this section. Thanks Govindaharihari (talk) 03:58, 3 October 2015 (UTC)
Actually, you started this thread about 24 hours after your first post on the BLP noticeboard. Czoal (talk) 07:01, 3 October 2015 (UTC)
See my comment from the WP:BLPN thread - "lets continue the discussion here as the whole chat is here, I was unaware it was still under discussion here" - Govindaharihari (talk) 15:58, 3 October 2015 (UTC)
I saw that comment and, with all due respect, it simply doesn't make any sense. I'm not sure how you could've been unaware it was still under discussion since the thread was still there, still open, and editors were commenting. And it had only been open a short amount time. In any case, multiple editors have told you the quote can't be included and provided detailed reasons why. Therefore, please drop the stick already. Czoal (talk) 20:55, 3 October 2015 (UTC)
What part of, I am only discussing this in one location the BLP noticeboard don't you understand Govindaharihari (talk) 21:09, 3 October 2015 (UTC)

────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────I am glad to see that Govindaharihari has withdrawn their objection about the tribue quote content. However, as I stated on the BLP noticeboard, I still believe that the remaining content should be removed based on her lack of notability and, from an enyclopedic perspective, the insignificance of their relationship. I will wait a bit, though, for others to give their thoughts. Czoal (talk) 22:25, 3 October 2015 (UTC)

Czoal How insignificant do you think it is to fly to Ireland and carry her coffin to her grave? Govindaharihari (talk) 06:28, 11 October 2015 (UTC)

Semi-protected edit request on 5 November 2015[edit]

Early Life needs to be edited. Jim spent part of his teen years living in Scarborough, Ontario in a 19th century heritage home while attending Agincourt Collegiate Institiute and working part-time after school in the adjacent Titan Wheels Factory. Hank Williams The Show He Never Gave[edit]

A movie just released April 2016 reminded me of this 1980 Canadian made for TV film which I believe features un-credited shots of Carrey, especially doing a sad face during a tear-jerker song. — Preceding unsigned comment added by (talk) 04:55, 11 April 2016 (UTC)

No filmography?[edit]

Forgive me as I'm not a wiki-editor. I just noticed there is no filmography on this page, which seems strange. Doesn't just about every other actor (even non-actors) have filmography sections? I'm not savvy enough to add one, but this reader would appreciate a list of his roles. Thanks! — Preceding unsigned comment added by (talk) 19:09, 13 July 2016 (UTC)
