Where is Jisei-in?[edit]

The external link probably refers to Honjo, a neighborhood in Sumida, Tokyo rather than Honjo, Saitama. Do you have a source that specifies Saitama Prefecture? Fg2 05:23, 1 December 2006 (UTC)

Hmm...I wonder if this (自性院) is what this article is supposed to be about? There's also the 慈生院 way of writing it, which gives you places like this (seems to be some sort of pet cemetery). ···日本穣? · Talk to Nihonjoe 09:05, 5 December 2006 (UTC)
Yes, that's a good question about 自性院. Not sure Mejiro is the right place, but I could have read the article wrong, or they might have moved. There might even be a Honjō in the area, although I couldn't find anything in the Japanese Wikipedia. Also, I saw the pet cemetery and it might be affiliated with the temple, who knows? But nothing definitively right. More questions than answers... Fg2 09:46, 5 December 2006 (UTC)
I edited the text to reflect that the temple might be in Honjo, Saitama Prefecture of Tokyo. The online source I used in the article is pretty vauge as to the exact location of the temple. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Robertjohnsonrj (talkcontribs) 21:43, 9 December 2006 (UTC). robertjohnsonrj 21:43, 9 December 2006 (UTC)
I put it in a comment since it's uncertain. Unless the source specifies Honjo in Saitama, I think Honjo in Edo is more likely, but that's of course speculation. Being in a comment, the information can be restored easily if we find out some more about it. In any case, it's an interesting temple. Fg2 22:40, 9 December 2006 (UTC)
I found this one, too. It's located at 東京都新宿区西落合1−11−23 (Tokyo-to, Shinjuku-ku, Nishi-Ochiai 1-11-23, accessible from Ochiaimina-Minagasaki Station (落合南長崎駅). ···日本穣? · Talk to Nihonjoe 09:40, 14 December 2006 (UTC)
I also found the kanji for the three names of that actor who is supposed to have visited the temple at one time: Bennosuke Sawai (沢井弁之助, Sawai Bennosuke), Takenojō Ichimura (市村竹之丞, Ichimura Takenojō), Uzaemon Ichimura (市村宇左衛門, Ichimura Uzaemon). ···日本穣? · Talk to Nihonjoe 09:49, 14 December 2006 (UTC)
That must be it. Good sleuthing! Google search for 自性院 新宿 yields these two in the top three:

So the remaining mystery is how is this connected with Honjo/Honjō? Fg2 10:03, 14 December 2006 (UTC)
