BLPNAME

[edit]

@91.216.181.45: The deciding factor of BLPNAME is in bold (by me), The names of any immediate, former, or significant family members or any significant relationship of the subject of a BLP may be part of an article, if reliably sourced, subject to editorial discretion that such information is relevant to a reader's complete understanding of the subject.. If the policy was aimed at the names of non-notable children, then such criteria wouldn't be relegated to a note (which was added last month), nor would it start with generally interpreted. How is his wife's name relevant to a reader's complete understanding of the subject (the subject being John Altman)? Nobody needs to know her name to know who Altman is. Nobody needs to know her name to know he's married. – 2.O.Boxing 17:02, 14 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Starting a secret discussion now? The only way to attract the attention of an IP editor is to post a message on her talk page. The clarification is now policy (in fact it's always been policy - only you interpret it this way). If you want the policy changed this can be done by starting an RfC. 91.216.181.45 (talk) 17:13, 14 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

This is generally interpreted by the community to include the removal of names of non-notable minors (emphasis mine). Include. So, in addition to, that which was already stated. The note is to clarify that BLPNAME is also used to remove names of minors based solely on them being non-notable. The policy, as stated, relates to any immediate, former, or significant family members or any significant relationship (emphasis mine). No RFC is needed. The policy is pretty clear.

You were quickly reverted at Raymond Antrobus. You're talking twaddle and I've stopped watching this page. 91.216.181.45 (talk) 17:04, 15 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
