I just want to correct a misconception by the page's main biographer. John Deacon did not grow up in Leicester. He grew up in OADBY, a small town adjoining Leicester. The schools he attended were also in Oadby and NOT in the city of Leicester as the author implies.
I know this because I am also from Oadby and I still live in the area.
Over the years, there have been occasions when Leicester City Council has made attempts to gobble up it's smaller neighbours. These have always been resisted by the people of Oadby and other towns such as Wigston.
Oadby retains its independence. It is not now and never has been a part of the city of Leicester.
I intend to make a couple of minor changes on the main page by way of correction.
