Biography[edit]

All information in Wonderland Murders from upcoming Bio (verified) NEW INSERT INFORMATION ADDED-POSTING HERE BEFORE ADDING IT BACK IN AS ADVISED. If it still needs to be more specific, I will change it yet again. It is also widely believed, and widely diputed that a young teenaged girl known as Annie, another of Holmes underage lovers who was pregnant at this time, was present at the Wonderland murders, but hidden in a closet, protected by Holmes (interviews by JH Adams for the biography "Aces & Eights, 2007). A friend of the Wonderland residents, she was believed to have been assaulted at Nash's residence by several male guests a few days before the robbery, thus giving Holmes and the Wonderland gang reason for the personal humiliation of Nash and his bodyguard. (Aces & Eights, 2007, The Other Hollywood, Legs McNeil "robbery done in a demeaning manner", statement of Sharon Holmes in Wadd, attributed to John Holmes of "demeaning" way robbery carried out). Friends of the Wonderland residents speculated the baby was likely Ron Launius's, not Holmes's, accounting for Launius's particular venomous attack on Nash during the robbery as alleged in a forthcoming bigraphy by author J.H. Adams who utilized crime scene reports and interviews for the forthcoming book.

According to neighbors who had been interviewed by the police, it has been alleged that the girl was already in the home before the murders, having been a visitor, and Holmes used her to open the door from the inside and unknowingly give easy access to the interior for the killers, the intent being to not to alert the sleeping occupants of the home (from copies of confidential police reports, Aces & Eights). The Wonderland gang were known to be armed and may have been on alert, anticipating some sort of revenge for the robbery (Porn King, 1998). They were also aware of a threat by a person known as "Sam", a dealer/hit man to whom they owed a large amount of money according to a Hustler's 1983 article and John Holmes'Autobiography "Porn King". Autopsy reports and a video tape including actual crime scene footage was released along with the "WADD" documentary and shows the victims were beaten mercilessly and were barely recognizable. Annie was reportedly hidden by Holmes in the large walk-in closet in Ron Launius's bedroom, where, as can be seen on the LAPD crime scene footage, is inches from where Susan was found. It was reported that Nash let Holmes remove the girl from harms way in exchange for Holmes getting her to open the door and his later cooperation in the form of silence about the events of that night. A detective who worked on the murder, Frank Tomlinson stated that Holmes said "if he cooperated someone he loved would die (The Other Hollywood, Wadd documentary). Nash reportedly gave Holmes several hundred dollars after the murders, a fact which Holmes reveals in his Autobigraphy "Porn King" and also in the book "The Other Hollywood" by Legs McNeil. Part of the money was used to send the girl back east, the rest to get Holmes and Dawn out of town as well. Police have never confirmed nor refuted this element of the story, perhaps to preserve the ongoing investigation or the safety of the girl. The extent of involment of this young girl has come under more serious scrutiny in recent years. According to newspaper articles and websites (Court TV.com, Morning Call.com and the Express-Times,1993). This same young girl was arrested 11 years after the Wonderland murders, accused of killing another young woman over a drug deal gone wrong. Newspapers at the time described the killing as "execution style" ("Police describe slaying as execution style" Express-Times, 1993). If convicted, she faced the death penalty ("Death penalty may be sought for Emmaus Woman in slaying" Morning-Call, 1993). She was acquitted, just as Holmes had been acquitted in the Wonderland killings ("Defendant acuitted of all charges in woman's murder" Morning Call, 1994). In 2005 an Ohio newspaper ran an obituary for this girl, so the truth will likely never be known (Ancestry.com death notices, Columbus-Dipatch.com, 2005). Circumstances of His Becoming Involved in Porn Industry?[edit]

The article jumps roughly from his early personal life to his being a porn star without any discussion of how that came to pass, a description of which would help flesh out the text more.

HIV Infection[edit]

Has anyone taken into account that he could have contracted HIV from his cocaine habit? Habitual users literally turn their nasal passages into hamburger meat and the blood and tissue can get onto the straw, which if shared can transmit the disease. Hep C can be transmitted in this way also. 208.242.14.186 (talk) 14:38, 12 February 2009 (UTC)

He was a porn star, the odds he contracted it from homosexual activities is more likely. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.220.92.70 (talk) 05:51, 3 August 2012 (UTC)

He was a heroin junkie who shared needles this is far easier way to get HIV then having sex with women and he didnt do the one off gay porn (top only anyway) until after he clearly had HIV.--TobyWongly (talk) 06:35, 30 April 2017 (UTC)

He probably got it either from having unprotected sex with an HIV+ woman or man, or from IV drug use and sharing needles. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 108.16.0.94 (talk) 09:12, 15 April 2013 (UTC)

Sharon and associates of Holmes' have said he didn't use needles (he feared them). While the sharing coke straws theory is a possibility, it's more likely Holmes was infected by having unprotected sex with other actors or actresses, or when selling his body (he prostituted himself to both men and women). You can clearly see the track marks in some of his latter pics!--TobyWongly (talk) 06:35, 30 April 2017 (UTC)

He starred at a time when personality could compensate for a lack of other aesthetic characteristics, and a certain amount of acting ability was still demanded of porn stars. (When was this? Unsourced and unverifiable) 50.72.132.222 (talk) 03:51, 29 March 2014 (UTC)

Please put this back[edit]

“After his death, Holmes was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award by the Adult film industry. It was accepted posthumously by his godson Sean Amerson, the son of Holmes' career-long friend and business associate Bill Amerson.”

I’m not sure why it was taken off, but it’s the truth and it means a lot to me that I was asked to accept the award for him and that I’m the one who said his eulogy. Jim Holiday did say something briefly and ask me up to the stage at the funeral. If you watched any of the documentaries you know I was raised by John and wiki is one of the few references to him I even care about.

I’m sorry I don’t know how wiki works or what the rules are so feel free to contact me via email if anyone has any questions.

Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Seanamerson (talk) 04:07, 31 July 2012 (UTC)

Do you have a reliable source? If so, I'd recommend being bold and adding the information yourself with a proper citation. Cheers. Doniago (talk) 12:39, 31 July 2012 (UTC)

Doniago

Thank you for the reply.

I’m not sure what constitutes a credible source? Well I have the award in my position and I probably have the funeral announcement in storage someplace. BTW there was closer to 400 people at the funeral not a small gathering.

As far as writing it myself, I’d rather leave that to more learned individuals such as you to wordsmith. If it wasn’t for John I wouldn’t have made it out of high school.

Seanamerson (talk) 16:27, 31 July 2012 (UTC)

Hi Sean, any chance that the organization that gave Holmes the award has a website? If so they may list the fact that he received it. Otherwise, is there a periodical that would have covered this? WP:RS discusses what sources are considered reliable for the most part. The way you phrased it above I consider generally acceptable, provided the source(s) cover all of the information included in the statements. Doniago (talk) 17:07, 31 July 2012 (UTC)

I sent Jill Nelson an email this morning I think she covered all this in her book. That would be considered credible wouldn’t it?

Seanamerson (talk) 17:22, 31 July 2012 (UTC)

I'm honestly no expert on what the RS criteria are for books, but if it's a major publication (as opposed to self-published, for instance), then I think that would work, yes. Doniago (talk) 18:41, 31 July 2012 (UTC)

Jills book is quoted as a referance

"John Holmes, A Life Measured in Inches, by Jennifer Sugar and Jill C. Nelson. 2008, BearManor Media. ISBN 1-59393-302-9. (Updated 2nd edition, 2011 ISBN 978-1-59393-674-7)"

In her email response she says she covers in chapter 13 "death of the king" everything in the legacy section that has been ommited. So can we put that section back and just cite the book? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Seanamerson (talkcontribs) 20:39, 31 July 2012 (UTC)

Sean Amerson is the real deal. There are numerous references in various publications that document Sean's relationship to Mr. Holmes, and that he and his family were at Holmes' memorial service. Please restore the reference to his accepting the award on behalf of Mr. Holmes. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 108.32.97.151 (talk) 01:30, 2 August 2012 (UTC)

This morning I inserted the information that Sean Amerson accepted The XRCO (X-Rated Critic's Association) Life Time Achievement Award on behalf of John Holmes in 1997. The information, cited in our biography "John Holmes: A Life Measured in Inches" in chapter 14 titled "Remembering John" was excerpted from the dialogue and script material derived from the 1998 documentary "WADD: The Life & Times of John C. Holmes" which we were granted permission to use for our bio by Hustler Video. Additionally, my co-author Jennifer Sugar and I interviewed Sean Amerson for our 2008 biography. I also reentered the information that Holmes was godfather to Sean and his two sisters, Denise and Shannon Amerson. Holmes' former business partner and friend, Bill Amerson, has referenced that fact in several Holmes documentaries (including WADD) and also in our own book. - Jill C. Nelson — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.150.8.115 (talk) 15:06, 21 August 2012 (UTC)

Just a thought: I am by no means an expert on Holmes, porn or anything related, but while perusing this article aften a related conversation with friends, I notice the following: The consensus seems to by (obviously unverified) that his penis length was roughly 13.5 inches. I see a note in the article that he once claimed it to be 35 inches. A quick tap at the calcultor confirms my supicion that 13.5 inche equals approximately 34.3 cm... 184.32.107.181 (talk) 19:35, 28 March 2014 (UTC)

Actually the 35-inch reference was not an error in metric conversion. Mr. Holmes indeed claimed that he could extend his member to 35 inches, and so long as it was flaccid, he could wrap it around his waist like a belt and tie it off in a knot.

(actor)/(pornographic actor) RfC[edit]

An RfC which may affect this article's title is currently taking place (Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Pornography#RfC: Should a person who has appeared in exclusively pornographic films be described as "(actor/-tress)" or "(pornographic actor/-tress)"?). Rebecca1990 (talk) 20:46, 11 June 2015 (UTC)

Odd language and link choice[edit]

Under the section where it details the number and gender of his partners, it refers to "rectal sex" rather than the usual "anal sex" and links to the Sodomy article rather than the more accurate Anal Sex one. Am I missing some obvious reason for this, or is it just someone being a little unclear on terminology/being judgemental? 80.1.144.137 (talk) 22:00, 8 October 2016 (UTC)

There isn't any obvious reason that I can discern, and that linking is not supported by the lede section in the Sodomy article. I've already updated the sentence to use a direct reference (with link) to anal sex. -- FeRD_NYC (talk) 17:56, 28 March 2017 (UTC)

Only ten inches as his first wife stated![edit]

This can be verified by it length in a pic and then comparing it to forearm length etc. The forearm length of people of a certain height does not vary much.--TobyWongly (talk) 06:42, 30 April 2017 (UTC)

That would be original research. DonIago (talk) 18:17, 30 April 2017 (UTC)

Good thought there Toby. Holmes' endowment has often been compared to a baby's forearm holding an apple. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2601:547:200:8020:6D54:A9A2:E3F6:D19 (talk) 23:00, 2 May 2017 (UTC)

About a number of his films[edit]

According to [[1]] the number is 535 (including compilation). So how one got the number of 2934? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 188.2.123.19 (talk) 22:44, 19 August 2017 (UTC)

Pumped penis?[edit]

The sizes and "wobbliness" of his member are characteristic of using a pump to force more blood into the penis. Probably that should be mentioned with references. 213.149.51.72 (talk) 22:58, 20 October 2017 (UTC)
