Latouche or La Touche[edit]

Most of the time I've seen Latouche instead of La Touche. The article body uses the former and the article title uses the later. Can anyone offer an authoritative citation of which is preferred? Joseph Hewes 08:25, 7 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I can't see any sources, independent of Wikipedia, that call him "La Touche". I suggest to move the article to John Latouche, overwriting that REDIRECT, or, a bit less controversial, move it to John Latouche (lyricist). In either case, the Category:Songs with lyrics by John La Touche (lyricist) should probably also be moved. -- Michael Bednarek (talk) 07:49, 26 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

WikiProject class rating[edit]

This article was automatically assessed because at least one WikiProject had rated the article as stub, and the rating on other projects was brought up to Stub class. BetacommandBot 07:06, 10 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

year of birth[edit]

Depending on which source you use, some give his year of birth as 1914, and some give 1917.

  • "Vermont Death Records, 1909-2008" (database on Ancestry.com) give the date of birth as November 13, 1917.
  • But Ancestry also has a ship manifest from July 6, 1943 where his birthdate is Nov. 13, 1914. Censuses of 1920 and 1930 don't immediately come up so there is probably a transcription error. -- kosboot (talk) 16:08, 9 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  • 1920 and 1930 Federal censuses give ages indicating that he must have been born in 1914, and either forgot or later changed the date. -- kosboot (talk) 13:23, 10 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Obscure place near junction of MI, IN, and OH[edit]

NPR's evening news ended with a piece on his (in role of lyricist) Ballad for Americans, and i think he said he was living in a rural town of (currently) 900 households! at the time.
