Assessment

[edit]

This is a marvelous first run of an article. I'd recommend adding a separate bibliography. Good work. Wildhartlivie (talk) 17:57, 7 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Last name

[edit]

His grave says Joseph Finnegan with the additional N. The title of the article was previously Joseph Finegan. I added the (Brigadier general) after it because of the disambiguation. Some sources say Finegan while others say Finnegan. I'm fairly certain those sources are wrong about his last name. I would go with his name on the grave as Joseph Finnegan as the true source. If anyone else agrees or disagrees with his last name and sources say it on here. --Excel23 (talk) 23:41, 6 February 2014 (UTC)— Preceding unsigned comment added by Excel23 (talkcontribs) 23:13, 6 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Rutledge, Florida

[edit]

Does anyone know where Rutledge is located? I'm assuming somewhere in Jacksonville but where exactly is that?--Excel23 (talk) 23:41, 6 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I've restored the "Finegan" spelling as it seems to be more common in the sources, including those already used here. I've left a note in the intro including Finnegan as an alternate form.--Cúchullain t/c 18:34, 7 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Category:American slave owners

[edit]

No mention of slave-owning. I feel that this category should be restricted to people whose slave-owning history was notable in itself. Valetude (talk) 19:25, 20 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
