Kazbegi Marathon - the race we all love has an 12th anniversary this year!

This year you will experience the renewed trail which will turn the race into an unforgettable mountain adventure. Steep climbs, high elevation, unforgettable and wild nature, mountain river crossing, technical sections and an amazing view on Kazbegi Mountain following all the way along the trail.

The race starts at the Gergeti Trinity Church parking area and continues towards Sabertse Pass via the Winter Path. All along the path, the view of the magnificent Kazbegi Mountain will encourage runners fighting climbs. In the middle of the path, participants of the Fun Run race will take sharp left and reach the parallel Summer Path, have some drinks and food at the point and enjoy their descent to the finish. Runners of the Sky and Extreme races will reach the pass, cross a mountain stream via bridge and stop at Altihut, where check and refreshment point is located. Another 1.5km and Skyrace participants will reach the highest point of their journey (3,300 masl): the terminus - end of Gergeti Glacier. Now the long descent to the finish is ahead through Altihut, Sabertse Pass and the Summer Path.

Yet, the Extreme race is far from completion. Runners will need to cross the Glacier, jump over several mountain streams and finally reach Bethlemi Hut at 3,653 masl, that is also the turning point. After stopping again at Altihut, runners will turn south at Sabertse pass and cross another ridge way off the beaten path (2,700 masl). The ridge will lead them down to village Getgeti. The final climb from the village to the finish line is 2.5km long.

The routes for all the three distances will be marked in TrailLab style. The refreshment points will be available at the following locations:

Fun Run, 7km - Summer Path, 4km

Skyrace, 15km - Altihut, 6km - Altihut, 9km - Summer Path, 12km

Extreme, 25km - Altihut, 6km - Bethlemi Hut, 9.5km - Altihut, 13km - Summer Path, 16km

Runners must finish the distance inside the time limits: Fun Run, 3:00 hrs Skyrace, 4:00 hrs Extreme, 7:00 hrs

In order to take the race beyond the borders of Georgia we made it certified by the International Trail Running Association (ITRA) for qualifying for different international trail races and competing with their peers: all finishers of Extreme race will receive 2 ITRA points, while SkyRace finishers will be granted with 1 point.

Extreme and SkyRace distance participants will be able to participate in the race only if they have all the required equipment list of which is given on the following link: https://www.traillab.ge/kazbegi-marathon-2021-equipment
