Stub article

I think this page is considerably in-depth now to merit a status change, and no longer be considered a stub. Anyone agree/disagree? OrinR 05:30, 12 August 2006 (UTC)

  • Agree - I second that notion, and therefore remove the stub. -- JoeB 4:38 AM, 17 August 2006

Proposed Deletion (non-notable podcast) - 22 December 2006

Article was proposed for deletion on basis of non-notablility by Alphachimp at 21:29 on 22 December 2006.

  • I've (74.101.5.92) added citation to improve the article by providing sourcing of this podcasts notability (as verified by the Alexa Internet Tracking Ranking, a California-based subsidiary company of Amazon.com that provides information on the web traffic to other website).
  • Disagree - Though podcasting is a new phenomena on Wikipedia, it is not that new. And there is a basis for including this type of information for encyclopedic value. I believe that Alphachimp's proposal for deletion is in error, and that the article was cited enough to start with. But I've added additional citing to put this question to final rest. The citation to Alexa clearly confirms the notability and importance of this podcast...and its merit in being included in Wikipedia....and in my opinion definitively puts to rest the proposed deletion based on non-notability.
  • Disagree - Template for deletion removed. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 74.101.5.92 (talk) 16:32, 23 December 2006 (UTC).
  • Disagree - I second the deletion of the template for the previously mentioned reasons. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Ckinni 16:45, 23 December 2006 (UTC).

Sexy Potato and Woot

I feel like rolling back the two latest additions... One, Sexy Potato, is she really that important? Like isn't her Myspace page for personal gain? To Sponsor a Spud? That'd be against policy, right?

And Woot... I don't think it's such a major recurring theme of the show. Sure, it occupied a lot of Spooky's latest episode, but it doesn't merit putting it up here because it's so recent.

If you feel that adamant about any of the material that should be posted, look into contributing to the Keith and the Girl wiki, which is elsewhere.

I'm rolling back those changes. Discussion can follow.--Htmlism 20:16, 22 November 2006 (UTC)

  • Sexy Potato is on most Thursdays- I think that qualifies as a regular guest. I will wait for somebody to second this before I put it back in. Also, I have not yet discovered another website for her, besides her myspace. If somebody has another, please submit it. --Wavemaster447 00:42, 26 November 2006 (UTC)
  • Don't you confuse Sexy Potato with Patrice?
Sexy Potato might be there a lot but she is not really often on air. 80.141.199.231 13:34, 28 February 2007 (UTC)
  • Sexy potatoe should still be in the "other guests" section no? because they have guests who've only been on once there. 70.78.84.7 00:12, 5 January 2007 (UTC)

Words Keith can't pronounce

If Keith can't pronounce a word then I suggest this info moved to Keith Malley as it affects all his work, not just his podcast. I changed it from "speech impediment" as although it is joked as an impediment on the show it's more from his regional accent. IPA should also be used to pronounce tɪngs. Thanks Breno talk 09:27, 11 April 2007 (UTC)

Breno, I think you are going a bit overboard. If you really want to flag this section as not meeting the IPA standards (which I think is ridiculously officious of you)...you should at least put in the effort to make it conform to that standard...instead of identifying and highlighting the non-conformity issue and walking away. It's not very community-oriented of you...as I don't see what you are adding to this that is of value...
Similarily of the suggestion to move this content to the Keith Malley page....I think you are needlessly creating more effort and concern over content that (if you really want to force the point of taking the content of this page to the Nth degree of seriousness...you should just flag for deletion as non-encyclopedic...and see how the KATG fans react). You are working to the letter of the law with respect to wikipedia...but you aren't working to the spirit of the page content or source material. Which makes me beg the question that perhaps you should just leave the KATG wikipedia page well enough alone as you aren't the best person to be moderating this content.
If you aren't going to carry out the effort for the IPA flag you added...I suggest that you retract it and let someone who has the gumption to actually do the work follow-up on the IPA issue when they decide to take on that challenge (that you have not)...wikipedia is a living entity...and this issue will be addressed when this concern is of pressing need...and not just driven by your need to make some form of contribution (regardless of need or value) —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 74.101.5.92 (talk) 19:06, 14 April 2007 (UTC).
74.101.5.92, flagging a section of an article with a cleanup tag is not being officious; I flagged it for the article to go to Category:Wikipedia articles with nonstandard pronunciation for a review by the Cleanup Team - someone better IPA skills than I would be better suited to this task.
I do still stand by my suggestion on this talk page to move this section to Keith Malley. When people look up Keith in relation to his comedy stand up, his role in the movie Crushed, or the Great American Novel they would then see this information. As I said his distinct regional accent does relate to all the other work he does. I posted the suggestion here to build consensus between the editors first.
Don't ask me to leave this article alone. I have just as much right to make edits and be bold as everyone else on Wikipedia. Breno talk 00:58, 15 April 2007 (UTC)

Just being clear that I didn't delete this discussion. It was archived per WP:ARCHIVE as the discussion ended. I also believe this went into WP:NPA territory so if everyone is finished I'd like it archived again. --Breno talk 23:37, 15 May 2007 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for Image:Katg show.jpg

Image:Katg show.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 15:53, 4 June 2007 (UTC)

Done Fair use rationale has been added. --Breno talk 06:54, 5 June 2007 (UTC)

Suggestions

  • I spent about 20 minutes trying to upload the katg logo. You have to jump through hoops just to upload a jpg, not like the old days of wikipedia.(UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Jlumley (talkcontribs)
  • The live show video feed isn't mentioned in the article. I think it's fairly unique to this show Breno talk 08:38, 11 February 2007 (UTC)
  • Show guests who are referred to in the main article by their Real name should have their nick-names or Aliases presented afterwards... perhaps a format such as Joe Blow (Awesome Joe)... if 36D appears on the show much more it would make sense to add her as a guest, but I am not sure if she is already listed under her real name.. thus the idea. 14:48, 21 March 2007 (UTC)
  • This section:
  1. UPS delivery service This is in its right place under Recurring themes as it is so damn boring. Keith and Chemda rant over and over that their UPS person treats them the same as every other person that UPS deals with. Ranks up there with the dentist issues caused by their total lack of comprehension and ability to follow simple discussion (listen to the amount of times they stop people with an ill placed comment as they have not been able to digest the information at the start of a story). Needs to be fixed, FAST! Loveshams 14:30, 24 April 2007 (UTC)

Words Keith Can't prenounce

Keith can prenounce his own name. He once said something to the affect of "we should change the name of the country to Thamerica, and if you can't prenounce it then you have to leave". He said this because he was so annoyed at his name being misprenounced as Keet. Keith and say his own name. I removed this from the list. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.78.84.7 (talk)

I still really question the usefullnes of this section of the article. Yes, Keith Malley has an unusual accent. That can be described in two sentences somewhere in the article intro. However, putting every irregularly pronounced word is not only unencyclopedic, but also an unlimited list that could go on forever. If someone really insists that it is a key concept of the show, then a soundbyte .ogg would be more practical as Wikipedia is a text medium, and the Somerset accent is difficult to grasp without hearing it. I propose it be removed as listcruft, unless someone has a grounds why this should be kept. --Breno talk 05:43, 18 August 2007 (UTC)
The show yesterday featured Keith discussing Bear vs Beer and was just what I was looking for. It has now been added to the article. --Breno talk 04:39, 22 August 2007 (UTC)

List of guests

I have been bold and changed the list from "regular vs others" to "Celebrity guests vs Podcast or friend guests". I felt that the previous was was not very specific; eg Max Darwin has not appeared on the show since last year. Obviously, there is still some ambiguity, eg is Brother Love a celebrity guest or a friend?

Most guests will either be one or the other, however editors may disagree with my categories or a guest's status may change over time. Please consider improving rather than reverting. Also, I have removed some blurbs regarding some guests, eg Patrice "appears mostly on Gossip Thursdays, which are named after Patrice's big contribution: celebrity gossip." as this is already covered under the Features heading. I have dropped the external links also as Wikipedia is not just a bunch of links. Thankyou. --Breno talk 05:35, 18 August 2007 (UTC)

Show elements

I think these need cleaning up. Keith and chemda haven't done clown jobs for at least a year now, so they don't talk about them every Monday anymore. Also, I added a redirect from the article at en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Katg
