Kermit the Frog?[edit]

Resolved.

Is this him after whom the famous frog is named? 151.199.112.65 21:41, 24 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

No, Kermit the Frog was not named after Kermit Love. Henson didn't meet Love until long after the Kermit puppet characeter was created in 1954/5. I just added a reference to this effect to the article. —scarecroe 14:16, 2 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Sexual Orientation[edit]

Resolved.

A recent edit http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Kermit_Love&diff=221457234&oldid=221406267 added this article to the "LGBT people from the United States" category. Are there any good references on Kermit Love being gay? I did a quick search and I didn't find anything. Tweisbach (talk) 04:50, 26 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Well, the fact that he was survived by his partner of 50 years, Chritopher Lyall, as mentioned in most of the Obits should give you enough evidence. Every one who knew him, knew of his sexuality. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Jonallen1966 (talkcontribs) 13:56, 26 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Here is a link to the New York Times obituary. Dybryd (talk) 22:15, 26 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Lead paragraph[edit]

Resolved.

I think the detail of Kermit not being named after him belongs in the body of the article after his meeting with Henson, not in the lead - can I move it?

I also think it might be good to mention his pre-Henson career in the lead. Working with Balanchine and Jerome Robbins is not exactly juvemilia!

POV issue[edit]

I believe much of this started as the Sesame wiki's article and has been added upon, however, from even a quick glance at the various obits and articles he had extensive theater and dance work aside from Sesame Street. It might be good to expand on those and rename the "beyond sesame" section to something more neutral and the adjust the lede accordingly. Good work so far! Banjeboi 18:56, 27 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

birth date?[edit]

An anonymous editor added the comment that Love was born August 7, not August 5. Dybryd (talk) 18:29, 4 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Look at several of the best surces and go with that, if there is a dispute we can sort it out. Banjeboi 01:54, 5 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
