Dubious[edit]

For cases where α=0, (=-N_{B}), or where y_{A} is close to zero, the... That is cool, but what is N_{A} and what is y_{A} ??? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 193.6.62.228 (talk) 08:35, 27 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

N_{A} is the molar diffusion of species A relative to a stationary reference frame. These models are discussing a binary system, so there are only two species diffusing in each other: A and B. So when N_{A} = -N_{B}}, the two species are diffusing in opposite directions at the same molar rate.

y_{A} is the mole fraction of species A in the system. It is defined as moles of A divided by the sum of moles of A plus moles of B. When it is approximately zero, the concentration of A is very dilute when compared to B. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Smjohnson555 (talkcontribs) 15:24, 27 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
