Untitled[edit]

Before I re-invent the wheel, I am looking for an algorithm concerning composition of Jamo into Hangul syllables. I already know how to combine L V T into LVT.

What I'm looking for is how to take keystrokes like mium oh jiot ah and determine where the syllable break occurs: mium oh + jiot ah. --Uncle Ed 16:24, 28 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Can someone who knows check the North Korean factoids about speech recognition performance (90%+). They seem to be highly implausible based on proper peer reviewed research from free societies. Though I don't doubt the Ctrl+I / Ctrl+J feature in the Dos program.

I've read the referenced article in Google translation. One issue is this: 90% of what? 90% of sentences is amazing; 90% of words is useful, but annoying (it gets 1/10 words wrong, which is quite a lot in a long document); 90% of syllables is more trouble than it's worth -- every second word would be wrong; 90% of jamo is useless -- almost every word would be wrong. A close reading of the article seems to indicate it is 90% of words, but it might be syllables. Another is this: they claim that the program "of North-Korea Baduk" (presumably 조선의 바둑 or 보선바둑) is world-champion level. It is widely recognised that Baduk is an extremely difficult game to program, and efforts outside of North Korea are nowhere near professional (let alone world-champion) level. It seems highly unlikely that North Korea has done any better than this. --Taejo|대조 10:02, 25 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The introduction seems incorrect[edit]

If no one more expert on scripts and Korean will review the introduction, I’m going to edit it myself. It presents "rendering as a block" as the opposite of "encoding in separate characters", although both routinely work together these days, thanks to OpenType fonts, good rendering "engines" and Unicode.

So if someone monitors this article, please let me know any things I should pay attention to when editing it.--Geke (talk) 09:55, 2 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
