I recently travelled to Lombok and reviewed some of Wikipedia's articles about the island, notably those relating to Kuta and Mandalika (also the nearby Mandalika International Street Circuit). The Kuta and Mandalika resort articles are essentially about the same small area, and I think they should be merged into one - perhaps named 'Kuta Mandalika' (I saw some large street signage using this name). What do other editors think? Paul W (talk) 20:02, 25 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I've just been to both places and they are really quite different. They both have a wildly different culture and type of tourist. To merge them would be like merging St Ives and Carbis Bay in the UK. You need a depth of understanding to see why British people would lose their minds over such a change.

From what I understand, Kuta (formally Koeta) is a governmentally recognised 'area'. Mandalika is a specific beach.

Unfortunately, people from Lombok are poorly represented on EN Wikipedia so we should be patient for their input. Veej (talk) 16:33, 28 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
