I came to this article expecting there to be an explanation of what the role actually is/does, but there's nothing. I don't think it's clear to most people.--Jeff79 (talk) 01:46, 3 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Agreed. Boneyard90 (talk) 19:07, 29 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

That is exactly what I was going to write. What is the meaning of the position? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 208.181.29.110 (talk) 12:45, 18 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Misleading links for names[edit]

Most of the names are bluelinks, but they appear to go not to the individual named, but to a man, usually her father, husband, or brother. Surely these women deserve articles of their own, as advisers and confidantes to monarches? And surely they should be redlinked until they get them? Agreed.--Aciram (talk) 16:34, 19 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Extra[edit]

What does "(extra)" in the listings mean? What is an extra lady of the Bedchamber? CapnZapp (talk) 10:07, 4 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Expand History Section[edit]

For instance, this tidbit from Catherine of Braganza: She produced no heirs for the king, having suffered three miscarriages.[1] Her husband kept many mistresses, most notably Barbara Palmer, whom Catherine was forced to accept as one of her Ladies of the Bedchamber.[2]

That section should be more about the history of the position as such, rather than "gossip" about people who had it. It should be expanded, with information about when the position was introduced, who was the first, what did they do, what were the normal tasks, the salary, how many, etc --Aciram (talk) 16:54, 4 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
To clarify, I'm not asking for gossip. I'm asking for the section to summarize encyclopedic content otherwise distributed over several other articles, with no obvious way for a reader of this article to summarize it or even realize it exists. CapnZapp (talk) 10:01, 5 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
