Mother of Nicholas Lanier[edit]

I'm afraid updating the chart is beyond my technical competence, but if some more adept editor cares to add the name of John Lanier's wife and Nicholas's mother it is Frances Galliardello, daughter of Mark Anthony Galliardello. Speculation...[edit]

Jews were not allowed in England between Edward I and Charles I; only with Protector Cromwell did this change. It's thought there were initial issues converting those Jews then resident during expulsion, but it's possible that they did eventually in some cases. If conversos made it to England in the course of business, they would have to already be reputed Christians beforehand, or turned away. The kings of England, who were responsible for this banishment, would no more invite or suffer the admission of Jewry than Gypsies, so proof is wanting for such assumptions. Kings like Edward IV were indebted to Italian bankers, but this meant Papal supervision and approval, including the demand for only Catholics and no Jews. 76.177.11.75 (talk) 09:28, 26 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
