I don't know how long ago this article was created, but single family houses in the area start at $550,000. So the medium household income has to be far above $35,000 to support those figures.

The median household income figure is from 2000, but throughout California--particularly in central cities--housing prices are increasingly bearing no resemblance to the economic status of the people living in a given area. I doubt the median household income has gone above $50,000. --75.2.221.178 08:05, 22 March 2006 (UTC)
Yes, no one said these prices are supportable. -Will Beback 08:44, 22 March 2006 (UTC)

Leimert Park and John Singleton[edit]

I was born and raised in Leimert Park. John Singleton is by no means it's most famous resident (Ella Fitzgerald, Ray Charles, The Mills Brothers, Billy Preston, Mayor Tom Bradley, and too many more to even mention, including Stu Gilliam and Butch "Earthquake" Johnson, would probably balk at the mere suggestion). In fact, after "Boys In The Hood" (Singleton's movie that put him on the map), Leimert became a hotbed of national/international curiosity. I feel, along with many other residents that that movie "ruined" a certain wonderfulness that existed prior to his choosing our community as an area he used in his film(s). I do not know when he started or even if he actually resides in Leimert. By the way, I have nothing against Mr. Singleton. However, I take umbrage to folks claiming the neighborhood. Representing since 1968...

Sincerely, D.W. NOWELS

Fair enough. I've changed the wording about Singleton to correct that problem, and started a "Notable residents" list. Please add to it. Cheers, -Will Beback 19:46, 11 April 2006 (UTC)

The lede . . .[edit]

I'm not in accord with the removal of important facts about Leimert Park from the lede, but I am willing to talk it over. LP is justly known as the center of black culture in Los Angeles. Shouldn't that be reflected in the lede through the use of simple statistics, or is there some other way of doing it, or shouldn't it be done at all? Try to stick to sources[edit]

It is nice to flesh out any article with well-researched facts, but where there is already a citation, or reference, we must be sure we are not adding anything beyond what is in that ref. If we have new stuff, we should be sure that is referenced, too. BeenAroundAWhile (talk) 18:59, 12 December 2016 (UTC)
