why did they call it the liberty tree?

It's a reference to Thomas Jefferson's quote that the tree of liberty must be watered from time to time with the blood of patriots and the blood of tyrants, although this organization is not concerned at all with liberty per se, preferring controls on the freedom of speech and association over the potential power of corporations that comes from people actually having liberty; so it appears to be a use of the quote more to promote revolution generally than to call for liberty.
