City name translation[edit]

"The name of the town literally means "Castle of Linds" and it comes from the fact that many of the Swedish settlers had last names that started with "Lind" and the Swedish word for castle, which is "borg." Many Swedish cities are named "borg" instead of town, which is a cultural heritage from the Dark Ages. Lind literally is the Swedish word for the small-leaved lime tree."

Lind/linden[edit]

The summary for this edit by SergeWoodzing (talk · contribs) states, "the tree is called 'Linden' in Europe only in that continent's few English-language countries". If that's the case, is it valid to connect it to Swedish people whose surname begins with "lind" and, if so, is there a citation to verify that etymology? Also, in discussing the name of the town, the article itself links to Tilia while Tilia cordata is the link given in this discussion. →Wordbuilder (talk) 17:26, 12 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
