Failed verification[edit]

Sorry for the previous editors, but.... A quake occurring afterward around the focus of the major quake is not always the aftershock. Another quake can occur by a different cause and a different mechanism, which is not to be counted as an aftershock. The USGS sources for this article show data on the quakes which occurred afterward; but there is no verification that those were scientifically indentified as the aftershocks of the 2008 Iwate earthquake. That's why I have put this tag. --Dumpty-Humpty (talk) 23:49, 16 June 2008 (UTC)

I have requested additional input at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Earthquakes (section link) so that the matter may be resolved. –Black Falcon (Talk) 04:59, 26 July 2008 (UTC)
