Major changes[edit]

I've made some major changes to the page, as it lacked some information, leaving the reader to imply that the only versions of the game were licensed to Sunsoft and were on the consoles. In reality, there were several different versions of the game for different computers, and all of the versions were quite different. I've reworked the article to reflect this with considerably more detail. More pictures will go up as soon as I have them. Jamyskis May 12, 2005, 22:21 (CET)

Different versions[edit]

There are several different Batman games made.

This article currently only covers "Batman - The Movie". // Liftarn

True - the original article only covered the movie-based versions, I didn't think about the isometric adventure. Batman TCC really belongs in its own article however, and while I have played the game, it was so long ago that I'd have to have another look before I could do a quality article on it. Jamyskis 10:10, 8 Jun 2005 (UTC)
Is there any objection to moving them all into their own articles? --Mmartins 08:19, 11 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]
No, it should be quite easy too. // Liftarn

I would love to see every game get it's own article, and I would love to help out on this. (LonerXL (talk) 06:32, 1 August 2008 (UTC))[reply]

YouTube links[edit]

This article is one of thousands on Wikipedia that have a link to YouTube in it. Based on the External links policy, most of these should probably be removed. I'm putting this message here, on this talk page, to request the regular editors take a look at the link and make sure it doesn't violate policy. In short: 1. 99% of the time YouTube should not be used as a source. 2. We must not link to material that violates someones copyright. If you are not sure if the link on this article should be removed or you would like to help spread this message contact us on this page. Thanks, ---J.S (t|c) 03:41, 10 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

PC Engine version?[edit]

This page seems to overlook the Batman movie game released for the PC Engine. See The PC Engine Software Bible for more info. --Jtalledo (talk) 04:15, 2 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Added it. --Jtalledo (talk) 22:36, 2 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Lego Batman game Can someone set up a link to the new Lego Batman game? I think that it should be added.

Batman and Robin: The Animated Series[edit]

This game doesn't seem to be listed. http://www.gamefaqs.com/portable/gamegear/data/564874.html

Removal of my external link to the NES Batman Shrine[edit]

I do not understand why my link was removed. Many of the game pages have links to fan-created shrines and the one @ NES Player is a relatively good one with quite a bit of info about the game. Any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks.

Lockshaw13 00:24, 14 July 2007 (UTC)lockshaw13[reply]

That doesn't make any sense to me neither because, this article needs all the good help it can get. I would love to see the shrine.(LonerXL (talk) 01:36, 2 August 2008 (UTC))[reply]

WikiProject Comics B-Class Assesment required[edit]

This article needs the B-Class checklist filled in to remain a B-Class article for the Comics WikiProject. If the checklist is not filled in by 7th August this article will be re-assessed as C-Class. The checklist should be filled out referencing the guidance given at Wikipedia:Version 1.0 Editorial Team/Assessment/B-Class criteria. For further details please contact the Comics WikiProject. Merger proposal[edit]

The following discussion is closed. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section.

The result was to keep all articles involved as-is (consensus to keep). MuZemike (talk) 17:55, 9 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I propose that Batman: Chaos in Gotham, Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker (video game), Batman: Gotham City Racer, Batman: Return of the Joker, Batman: The Animated Series (video game), Batman (arcade game) and Batman & Robin (video game) be merged here. All mentioned articles are stubs at most with little or no information. Merging them here would make coverage of the Batman video games more complete. Please discuss here. If no discussion occurs within five days of the sign date, then the proposal automatically carries due to lack of opposition. MuZemike (talk) 20:40, 3 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

NoteBatman (NES) and Batman (Sega Mega Drive) have also been added to the merger proposal. MuZemike (talk) 21:07, 3 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Why? An article being a stub is no reason to merge. They're all notable and could all potentially be expanded to featured articles. JACOPLANE • 2008-08-4 18:05
If we're going to keep everything as is, then what about this article? Should it be expanded to include a brief mention of all 20+ Batman video games out there? Perhaps we should turn this article into a list? MuZemike (talk) 20:39, 4 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
One last Note — This merger was actually proposed five months ago but was incomplete. I'm just trying to get some closure on this. For most of the articles that was originally listed. I agree that they are notable. MuZemike (talk) 20:36, 4 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose dragging further games into this mess of an article that can't seem to decide what it's supposed to be. Each of the games will doubtless have sources floating around, merging multiple notable games like this results in one large mess instead of several smaller messes, not much of an improvement. The first two games, the 8-bit computer game and Caped Crusader, are probably the most notable of the lot, yet they've already been merged. As a list it would be useful enough, but as a melting pot it won't cover anything properly. Someoneanother 23:35, 5 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Idea for making article into a list[edit]

It may look nicer (as well as more concise) if we make this article into a list, just as I did with Power Pad. We could use a {{Video game titles}} for each game in the series. For example, the first Batman game in the list, the 1986 home computer version, could be mentioned like this:

Title Details
Batman

Original release date(s):[1]
Release years by system:
Amstrad CPC, Amstrad PCW, ZX Spectrum, MSX
Notes:

Prior to the 1989 film's licensed version of the games, a 1986 3D isometric action-adventure game was also released under the Batman licence by Ocean Software on Amstrad CPC, Amstrad PCW (monochrome), ZX Spectrum, and MSX. This was written by Bernie Drummond and Jon Ritman and was very similar to Head over Heels, arguably their most successful title. In this game, Batman has to rescue Robin, but to do so he must collect six parts of the batcraft hovercraft. During the game you pick up various items to help you, like boots that allowed you to jump[2]

Batman received favorable reviews by Your Sinclair and Sinclair User magazines in 1986.[3][4]

Just an idea. What does everyone think? MuZemike (talk) 21:27, 10 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Definitely. Someoneanother 00:06, 3 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Article renaming[edit]

This article should be renamed to Batman video games, since computer games are a subset of video games. --59.93.204.163 (talk) 10:00, 7 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

List of Batman computer and video gamesList of Batman video games — As suggested above, on WP we collectively refer to both console and computer games as 'video games', whether in standard titles or when disambiguating. The current title is needlessly bulky. —Someoneanother 01:43, 22 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Talking about bulky, if the "List of" part necessary? Could it not just be called Batman video games? // Liftarn (talk)
Technically perhaps, but the gaming project's featured lists are all titled 'list of..' with one exception, Annie Award for Best Animated Video Game. That one has a large lead so resembles a list/article combo, whereas this is very much a navigational list rather than an article about Batman video games. My personal preference would be for the list part of the title to remain. Someoneanother 12:11, 22 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Removed Final Fantasy entry from article, leaving here for now[edit]

I've removed this entry from the section titled "video games featuring Batman" because I can find no source for it. The only other unscripted appearance of this kind, as an unlicensed boss in the Shinobi game, is easily sourcable (and soon shall be sourced). If anyone can find a reliable source please reinstate this entry or bring the source here for discussion.

Notes:
  • This 8-bit Squaresoft game features "Badman", a character with strong resemblances to Batman, as one of the enemies of the final area.

Mobile games[edit]

Do Batman mobile phone games have a place in this article? --jayunderscorezero (talk) 15:36, 19 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Definitely, go for it :) Someoneanother 21:17, 19 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Added! It's still a little bare, but I can always add more detail soon. -- jayunderscorezero (talk) 10:08, 28 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

This list says Batman (1989 Ocean video game) (the third game from the top) was released on the original Gameboy. The article for that game doesn't mention Gameboy release, nor is it in Gameboy game category, which is correct. Was there a Batman game, similar but simpler, slightly different version released on Gameboy by the same company that could be considered the same game or a different game depending on your point of view? Carlwev (talk) 18:40, 2 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Gameboy game[edit]

I played a Batman game in the early 1990s at first I thought it might be the Ocean game I mentioned above, but I don't think it is.

I have found a video of the whole game on Youtube here the title load up says

tm & © 1989 DC comics inc all rights reserved. © 1990 Sunsoft

It doesn't appear to match any game in the list that I can see. Is this game in the list and does it have a Wiki article? if not can we add it.

"Main series?"[edit]

Why is the Arkham series in at the top of the article and why is it called "main series"? 80.98.184.139 (talk) 00:09, 14 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
