Untitled[edit]

I fail to see how this meets the criteria for speedy deletion under any guideline, let alone WP:CSD#A3. Could the nominator provide further rationale as to why these lists I created are their target, while thousands of similar lists exist on Wikipedia without such headaches involved? Eric Clapton[edit]

Surely Eric Clapton should be on this list, many of his phrasings lead from the Chicago style. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 92.8.211.183 (talk) 21:44, 14 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Err, no, for any number of reasons ! - Derek R Bullamore (talk) 14:14, 30 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Harlem Hamfats[edit]

This band seems out of place here, because the article about the band characterizes its music as swing jazz and does not mention Chicago blues. Should this entry be deleted? Jwicklatz (talk) 23:08, 17 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Somewhat late in replying here, but yes this outfit do not fit the parameters are defined in the article. I have deleted accordingly. - Derek R Bullamore (talk) 14:14, 30 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Little Charlie & the Nightcats[edit]

Is this band a Chicago blues band rather than simply a blues and jazz band? The article about the band does not mention Chicago blues. Should the band be deleted from this list? Jwicklatz (talk) 20:11, 20 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Somewhat late in replying here, but yes this outfit do not fit the parameters are defined in the article. I have deleted accordingly. - Derek R Bullamore (talk) 14:14, 30 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Blind Blake[edit]

He recorded in Chicago. This does not make him a Chicago blues musician. He died in 1937, before there was a style called Chicago blues. He is definitely out of place in this list. He is in the article "List of country blues musicians," where he belongs. I will delete the entry for him in "List of Chicago blues musicians", pending any forthcoming objection. Maxwell Street Jimmy Davis[edit]

Is he considered a Chicago blues musician? Jwicklatz (talk) 05:42, 27 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Somewhat late in replying here, but his name has already been deleted from the article. - Derek R Bullamore (talk) 14:14, 30 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Jimmy Yancey[edit]

He was a boodie-woogie pianist, and the article about him does not mention Chicago blues. Should he be deleted from this list? Jwicklatz (talk) 01:22, 3 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Missing Artists[edit]

Where are Elvin Bishop and Corky Siegel? 2603:8001:A303:B9FE:8505:D729:841E:DDC6 (talk) 19:57, 24 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Now included, with appropriate third-party reliable sources. These kind of listings are rarely, if ever, 'complete'. Thanks - Derek R Bullamore (talk) 23:40, 24 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

James Cotton's bass player Bob Anderson[edit]

I can't find much about him but Bob Anderson was a fine bass player and I saw him play with James Cotton several times in the early seventies. He is playing on the 1968 live performance in Chicago with James on youtube. 174.242.222.192 (talk) 03:01, 13 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Possibly. However, as the editing notes within the article state "Also note that each entry needs to be a notable act, and have a reliable source." Please see Wikipedia:Notability (music), which explains the criteria. Thanks, - Derek R Bullamore (talk) 22:45, 14 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Merle Perkins Chicago Blues Drummer[edit]

Merle Perkins has mentioned he wants to be included for his contribution to the Blues. 2601:240:E580:E560:3D28:9516:827E:E3EC (talk) 22:27, 9 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

He probably does want to be - but see WP:NOTPROMO. Plus, as the editing notes within the article state, "Also note that each entry needs to be a notable act, and have a reliable source." Please see Wikipedia:Notability (music), which explains the criteria. So Perkins (presently without a Wiki article of his own) probably does not qualify. As before, please read Wikipedia:Notability (music), which explains the criteria. On Wikipedia, notability is not acquired simply by association to those who are notable. Perkins claims need to be made and assessed on his own basis alone. Please make a case accordingly - on a cursory glance by this editor alone, he does not make the grade, either for an article in his own name, or placing on this list. Kindly note the first criteria needs to be met before the second can be considered. - Derek R Bullamore (talk) 14:13, 10 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
