Improve this article[edit]

Anyone have an idea on how to improve this article? It would be nice to say which referees are current FIFA refs, and which are retired. The information for current referees is available on the FIFA website http://fifa.com/en/regulations/referees/index.html . If you have any ideas please let me know. Being an avid referee myself, I hope to contribute to Wikipedia's content on this topic. Canuck89 04:30, 11 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Adding Years[edit]

If anyone adds a name to this list, please also include the years in which the referee was designated FIFA (international), by placing the years in parenthesis after the name. Canuck89 19:53, 13 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Disambiguation[edit]

I have gone through the article and fixed links so that they do not go to inappropriate places. When you add a name, please make sure that your link to "Bob Smith" actually goes to an article on Bob Smith the referee, and make it "Bob Smith (referee)" if not. In a few cases the article pointed to was for a player, and I was uncertain whether they might have become referees - Gustavo Méndez of Uruguay, for instance. England Wales - Howard King[edit]

I'm currently working on a Newcastle United website and I have this chap listed as ref'ing the match with Swindon Town 18-Sep-1993, so assume he should also be listed as a Premier League ref, if my information is accurate. 81.6.231.241 21:47, 19 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. If that's the case, feel free to add "Premier League (year)-(year)" to his current stats at List of football referees (Wales section). However, you would need to know his start and end dates for that purpose (usually added by someone with Rothmans Year Books and suchlike - I don't have any myself). Thanks. What is the point of this list?[edit]

This really needs inclusion criteria and re-naming as the title theoretically includes every referee to take up a whistle. The majority of refs in this list are internationals so something like List of international football referees could work. Hack (talk) 00:54, 7 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Lede clearly states it is for internationals, so I made the name change. Looks like the English section needs sorting out. Maybe the content there could be another list, retaining only internationals here. FeatherPluma (talk) 02:41, 25 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]
