This should really be split. The Turkish period is not normally considered "colonial", partly because the government was in practice largely autonomous, and has little in common with the French period. - Mustafaa 20:11, 20 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Also, it greatly overlaps with List of Pasha and Dey of Algiers. - Mustafaa 20:15, 20 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Both points taken. In trying to avoid too many splits of consecutive lists the heading is clumsily generic. I am considering whether it is better to have a more accurate heading or to split the table. Agreed that the list overlaps the Pashas and Deys of Algiers list, however as that heading suggests they are lists of individuals with those specific titles, whereas the list here is a succession of a post or position, irrespective of specific title. Whether this is enough to justify two separate but overlapping lists is up to debate. A parallel would be that a list of the First Lords of the Treasury in the UK would be largely the same as the list of Prime Ministers of the UK, but not entirely so, so two separate lists may well be justified. --JohnArmagh 20:28, 20 Jun 2005 (UTC)
