Not sure how to make this an effective article[edit]

All:

I am looking for ideas on how to make this a meaningful list. Some links are good, some are bogus. Also, some states have good representation, and a lot of KV's are still missing.

Any ideas?

I added 3 KV's, and the state of Chandigarh. --Amit 18:36, 25 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
There are some more KV's in the state of Madhya Pradesh. I have added 2 new KV's in the list. satish sitole (talk) 17:29, 28 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Two of us have gone through the list and have found either eight or nine schools that have their own articles on Wikipedia. Generally speaking with lists like this, everything on it needs to have an article which is an indication of its notability. I suggest, and I'll do it in a couple of days unless someone has a good argument against it, reducing the article to just those schools that have their own pages on Wikipedia. Wikipedia is not a directory which is what this article is in its current state. SQGibbon (talk) 19:47, 27 December 2010 (UTC) As per the discussion at AfD I believe now there is a better option. Use this page to list the 14 regions with links to new articles listing the schools in each of those regions. Here is the list of regions with links to the schools in each region. It should be fairly trivial though somewhat time-consuming to do all this. There will be lots of red links but that's just an indication of the articles that need to be written. Cleaned up[edit]

I wikified this article a bit:

  1. Got rid of unnecessary <br>s
  2. Pulled the state name off the end of each school, since it's in the section header
  3. Added main links to the states, where more than one school
  4. Eliminated red empty links, as it was inconsistent with the lack of links for some schools
  5. Eliminated ---s which are deprecated
  6. Compressed external links down to what I believe to be the school name, rather than including what I believe to be the city name as well

I wasn't sure how cities work so I left them alone, but they could probably be added to the hierarchy in the list instead of being listed at the end of each school- preceding comment by Sbrockway link added by Amog

Protected database?[edit]

The list's protected? I mean how do you add new KVs to this list? Elncid (talk) 12:17, 23 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

File:Kendriya Vidyalaya LOGOani.jpg Nominated for speedy Deletion[edit]

An image used in this article, File:Kendriya Vidyalaya LOGOani.jpg, has been nominated for speedy deletion at Wikimedia Commons for the following reason: Copyright violations
What should I do?

Don't panic; deletions can take a little longer at Commons than they do on Wikipedia. This gives you an opportunity to contest the deletion (although please review Commons guidelines before doing so). The best way to contest this form of deletion is by posting on the image talk page.

  • If the image is non-free then you may need to upload it to Wikipedia (Commons does not allow fair use)
  • If the image isn't freely licensed and there is no fair use rationale then it cannot be uploaded or used.
  • If the image has already been deleted you may want to try Commons Undeletion Request

Semi-protected edit request on 9 May 2015[edit]

Please change the sentence "Kendriya Vidyalaya 1, 2, and 3, Navy Nagar, Colaba, Mumbai" in the 'List of Kendriya Vidyalayas' into three different names in the form -

  • Kendriya Vidyalaya No.1, Navy Nagar, Colaba, Mumbai
  • Kendriya Vidyalaya No.2, Navy Nagar, Colaba, Mumbai
  • Kendriya Vidyalaya No.3, Navy Nagar, Colaba, Mumbai ; separately so that I can add the respective schools web address to it and also to add an article about Kendriya Vidyalaya No.2, Navy Nagar, Colaba, Mumbai and if possible about the rest of the two schools too. If you accept my request and change the sentence then I would be able to add the article easily and it also looks appropriate in the above mentioned 'List of Kendriya Vidyalayas'.

External links[edit]

In this list, the external links are the only way to ensure verifiability. While going over the list, readers would expect some proof showing that a listed school really exists. The schools are not independently notable to have their own articles. A look through the existing articles on KV schools clearly shows that they are all AFDable. They are no secondary sources at all, apart from promotional tone and lots of unreferenced fluff.

Given these circumstances, I suggest that this list be allowed to retain the external links to the schools' official websites. The list has carried the external links some is creation, but they were removed recently. 103.6.159.90 (talk) 17:49, 28 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

AfD nomination of individual school articles[edit]

Articles about individual Kendriya Vidyalaya schools have been nominated for deletion. The discussion is taking place at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Kendriya Vidyalaya school articles. Comments would be welcome. 103.6.159.65 (talk) 10:16, 3 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]
