Regarding the the text about Zenjiro below.

Zenjiro IS based on a real-life TV personality, but not on Sanma Akashiya. Zenjiro is based on Zenjiro. In the Japanese version he voice acts himself (thus much of the joke, which would be missed in a dub).

As for citation. It says so on his web page - in japanese - listed under "works"^[1]. Or in the credits of the anime.
