Charing Cross[edit]

Noticing some confusion, it seems that there were two similar accidents at or near Charing Cross in 1938. The Railways Archive has details of both. The recently written main article seems to apply to the one in March - there is no similar article for the one in May. To avoid further confusion, this needs writing - I will see if I can do anything unless someone else does so first.EmleyMoor (talk) 12:07, 14 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Other accidents[edit]

Lewisham Crash 1960.[edit]

I am very sure there was an accident with many fatalities in 1960 on the rush hour Loop Line train between St John's and Lewisham. Am now writing memoirs, I was in an Australian bush camp and remember picking up an old British newspaper searching frantically for my sister's name. At the bottom of the page it said ..Miss Pat, continued on page so and so. My relief at finding a strangers name gave way to empathy for the victims friends and relatives. There was an accident in 1957 at St Johns (see Lewisham rail crash); I don't know of one in 1960 - there's nothing similar at List of rail accidents in the United Kingdom#1960–1969. Note that the route through St Johns has never been part of the London Underground, so any accidents at that location won't be on this particular article. --Redrose64 (talk) 19:44, 30 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Inclusion criteria[edit]

What are the criteria for including an accident here, and can we have a clear statement of them please? The reason I ask is that an incident at Stratford, of a person being hit and killed by a train, has twice been added and removed. I feel that it is clear that this should not be here; there are, sadly, quite a few incidents of this sort a year and it would become a very unwieldy article very quickly if we tried to cover them all. The incidents described already in the article seem to me to largely be in a different category, but I am not sure how this is defined. I'd be very interested to hear what others think. I don't know of a clear policy. Mjroots (talk · contribs) tried to work up a document (see Wikipedia:Notability (railway incidents)) about three years back; EdJogg (talk · contribs) and a few others (including myself) helped, and it was in pretty good shape up to this point. Then it got wider visibility and was shot down by people saying that WP:GNG was sufficient, and that any attempt to provide specifics for the railways was WP:CREEP.
But for the case in hand, there's "one under" almost every week, so is there some aspect that makes this one significantly different from the others that go unreported? --Redrose64 (talk) 09:28, 30 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

KINGS CROSS (Smoking ban?)[edit]

My recollection (I might be wrong) is that there was no smoking ban until after the King's X fire, and the ban that followed initially, was only related to those stations that were below ground. I think the comment indicating that the ban was not being enforced at that time, is strictly inaccurate as there was no ban to enforce at that time. 46.7.85.68 (talk) 10:39, 30 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Fatal accidents and separate articles[edit]

The heading states 5 actual accidents involving fatalities, the last being Moorgate, but I can only see 4 - Charing Cross District, Northwood, Stratford and Moorgate. What's the fifth? Or does that information need correcting? Evidently the bombs, crushes and falls from platforms are excluded.

Also, Northwood seems to merit a separate section as it caused fatalities. Hyperman 42 (talk) 15:31, 19 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
