Nationality[edit]

Why is Dave Jackson's nationality "Montreal Canadiens" ? 70.79.51.182 (talk) 22:16, 31 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Order[edit]

Maybe we can order by number. Or is it by name? Buscus 3 (talk) 00:09, 12 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I don't know who reads this talk page, but is there a way to sort by name, but then do an optional sort by number? Mandoli (talk) 01:20, 25 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, figured out how to do it. Only the number column can be sorted, and I was only going to do just two lists until I thought that it would make things more confusing by removing a section of the page entirely. Mandoli (talk) 03:27, 27 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

References[edit]

This page is lacking references. Is there a way that people can find some? (I'd like to try to see a wider variety than the NHLOA's page.) Mandoli (talk) 00:45, 14 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

History Page[edit]

Everyone excuse my dating when it came to Andy McElman's final game date. It should read "3 April 2016", not 2015. Mandoli (talk) 19:41, 3 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Sections[edit]

I've been debating having one section for all officials or separating them for the purposes of keeping everything organized. So I'm thinking it's all going to be condensed to one section. Forgive me for the dust. Mandoli (talk) 01:35, 9 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

2017-18 roster[edit]

I'm consistently editing the two lists (current and former), because there are so many new guys working tonight's preseason games. Confirmed names are Andrew Smith and Libor Suchanek. However, a few more names are listed in game summaries: Corey Syvret, James Tobias, and Travis Gawryletz. Talking to someone off-site, and since there's an extra new linesman (one of Tobias and Gawryletz), we're thinking that someone's not going to be able to work this season. Just a heads up, folks. Mandoli (talk) 23:54, 18 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

All six of the new guys were at the officials' training camp in September, and we've got headshots of all of them. Looks like there's confirmation that they're all in. (Also, everyone but Smith will be on the AHL roster. Smith will be full-time in the NHL.) Mandoli (talk) 15:01, 3 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Former NHL officials[edit]

Hi, guys. Just a thought I had in my mind when I was editing up the retiring officials from 2019-20. I don't want to make the list of former officials longer than a CVS receipt. Perhaps we can make some sort of criteria as to "this is a notable official, he should remain on the list". Anyone with a Wikipedia page should stay, as well as officials who are deceased and were noteworthy (at least one SCF). All officials who don't have a page and who have made at least one SCF stay as well.

My other idea was that guys like Evgeny Romasko stay, who didn't make the NHL full-time, but were significantly mentioned in the hockey world for their history. Is this something we should clean up? Yay or nay? Mandoli (talk) 15:51, 19 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Tim Peel[edit]

I've moved Tim Peel to the "former NHL officials" section per this Tweet from the official NHL PR twitter page. --My Pants Metal (talk) 13:55, 24 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Part of me wants to keep him on the current list. He's still technically "employed", but with a month left before retirement anyways. Part of me has already seen the statement that the NHL put out, and wants to keep him in the former list. I have no idea what I want to do to the page. Like, it's nothing against the good edits, but I don't know if moving him to the former list while he's still under contract is the right move? Mandoli (talk) 17:47, 25 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I've decided to add Tim Peel back on the "Current NHL officials" list. He is still listed as an active official on the NHL officials website. You're right in that he is still technically employed by the NHL, just not working any more games. Of course, we'll revisit this at the end of the season and add him to the "Former" list. --My Pants Metal (talk) 12:24, 29 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
His last game was supposed to be April 24, with a Colorado vs St. Louis game (I want to say that's the right date? I know it was in April). I tend to move officials around when their retirement game has ended, usually the day or two after the fact when I know it's final. So I think it's right to keep him on there until the day after his retirement game was supposed to be. Mandoli (talk) 15:43, 29 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I've moved Tim Peel to the "Former" section. The regular season is now over, and Peel would officially be retired by now had that hot mic incident not happened. He is still listed as an active official on the NHLOA website, though. Not sure if we should take this into consideration. --My Pants Metal (talk) 14:39, 2 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
They tend to edit things when the season gets closer to starting, so you're fine. I still need to move Pierre Racicot and Tony Sericolo to the retired list as well... Mandoli (talk) 21:34, 4 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

2021–22 season and note[edit]

The 2021–22 season is almost here. The main source for all of my usual pre-training camp updates is Scouting the Refs, as it usually is. The nationality finds are from many different places, including HockeyDB (if the official had any playing experience prior to him being a referee or linesman). But the original sources for the laundry list of names was the Cape Breton Eagles and the ECHL.

As for me writing up the note about #72 being retired, thank you Tim Peel for telling me that I hit the nail on the head. Mandoli (talk) 01:11, 15 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
