Move discussion in progress[edit]

There is a move discussion in progress on Talk:List of Naruto: Shippuden episodes (season 1) which affects this page. Please participate on that page and not in this talk page section. Thank you. —RMCD bot 23:32, 7 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Is there a valid case to be made to create another season page?[edit]

This season's article is pretty long for 66 episodes, and it doesn’t feature canon material and then side story filler to finish it off. It’s canon, long section of filler, and then canon content again.

So my question comes as to whether or not it would be acceptable to move episodes 459 through 479 to Naruto: Shippuden (season 21), and then move that one down to season 22. The Japanese home media set divides that up perfectly under the DVD title listing The Origins of Ninshu ~ The Two Souls, Indra and Ashura and comes back into mostly canon material after a long set of filler episodes. Thus, season 20 would be 45 episodes, and then seasons 21 & 22 would contain 21 episodes. Again, all the existing season 21 article would do is move down to 22 with no other change. It seems silly that was can divide these DVD titles up to 8-13 episodes earlier on but can’t lighten the load for a 66 episode article with large summaries and 5 seperated DVD titles, especially when you officially can based on it.

If there is any objections to such a proposal let me know, but the home media title sets was always how these episodes were divided to begin with here, was it not? GalaxyFighter55 (talk) 08:17, 27 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@Yuugone: Do you think I have a legitimate case to be made here?

PLEASE READ: Before I go through any potential process of WP:BRD, let it be known that:

1. The DVD listings from Japan were always the main factor behind Shippuden's seasonal divide here on English Wikipedia. Most of the seasons stand out by its own, single DVD chapter title (see this official webpage for the details and use Google Chrome's translate service if necessary to see the episode titles as they run-off from Naruto's 220 episodes), while others such as seasons 13 & the pre-established 21 use more than one DVD chapter due to most of them being very tiny to begin with (ex. only 4-6 episodes in length, which is not sufficient enough to warrant its own season article as all of them are also filler.)

2. The result over this overstuffed 20th season (exactly double (66) from the next highest officially DVD compiled season 12 (33) was the result of the editors not being able to determine when to split up the articles back in 2016 due to the fact that the filler, which was technically associated with the season's canon narrative events as they compiled Infinite Tsukuyomi dreams of multiple characters, was overrunning its course. Then when we did come back into fully canon material in episode 459, the split did not happen as it should have as it narratively and arguably specifically depicts Team 7's battle against Kaguya Ōtsutsuki and Naruto and Sasuke's spiritual connection to Indra and Ashura which determined their destiny to have a final battle. Plus Madara, who is supposed to be the main antagonist, is not a factor by 459 as he is (SPOILER) consumed. That in of itself should have warranted it to be the 21st season.

3. Not even taking the Japanese DVD listings into account, even the international English home media releases start a volume with episode 459, so there must be somewhat of a universal agreement that this is the beginning of a new chapter after nearly 25-30 episodes of filler.

4. The 19th OP, Blood Circulator by ASIAN KUNG FU GENERATION, lasts from, you guessed it, episode 459 to 479.

In conclusion, not only would splitting up episode 459-479 into the 21st season would make sense, it almost seems somewhat even more official than what had been established here for a while. Remember that this is a WP:BRD move I have chose. But, before such a decision is wasted I'd like to hear any case detesting otherwise if you so choose. Although, I personally think a strong case has been given here. Thank you for reading, GalaxyFighter55 (talk) 02:33, 28 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
