Doesn't most of the paragraph information belong in the main Ohio-class article?[edit]

especially the schematic? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Bron6669 (talkcontribs) 09:12, 20 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Mid Life Upgrades[edit]

I Suggest adding information (dates started and completed and location) on the Engineering Refueling Overhaul (ERO) Wfoj3 (talk) 16:01, 30 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Merge proposal[edit]

As asked above, is there really a need for a separate article, just to list the boats? The 62-boat Los Angeles class is one thing, but there are only 18 boats in this class. The info on this page should be in the main Ohio class article. That article right now isn't particularly long, so a relatively small 18-boat list should be able to go onto it quite easily. The table as is could be trimmed, there are needless columns, such as "weapons" which repeats the same info for every boat, and has the same info listed directly above. The "UIC" code column is unusual, links to a page that doesn't explain the codes at all and is generally needless. There is also no reason to cram in the individual crests for each boat. I believe any relevant info on this page, along with a trimmed down table, could easily be merged into the main Ohio page. - theWOLFchild 17:21, 14 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I think that I agree and would add these comments about the table elements if this article merged into Ohio-class submarine:
  • Hull number – the colored background is contrary to MOS:COLOR. We commonly add a {{dagger}} (†) or a similar character so that the distinction made by the colored background is understandable to the visually impaired (removed at this edit)
  • UIC – concur; especially since the linked article does not describe Navy department UICs
  • Crest – concur
  • dates – keep
  • Weapons – discard; this information already in the Ohio class article infobox
  • Status – discard; because all are in active service there is no need for this column at this time; in future, a date of decommissioning column can be added when the first boat is decommissioned
  • Ref – keep as is

@Trappist the monk: Thanks for the reply. Quick note; I'm aware of the symbols used to denote items in tables, (I've used them myself), in this case, the ships were being denoted both by symbol and color. This redundancy seemed needless (kinda' like wearing suspenders and a belt) so I removed one. I anticipated changes coming and chose to remove the symbols, as that was quicker and easier. But if we were to re-do the table, I'd choose the symbols over the colors. in fact, I agree with all the changes you listed. Cheers - theWOLFchild 13:59, 16 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

merged[edit]

Green tickYDone. It's been over a month with no opposition. I've gone ahead and merged (and redirected) this article to "Ohio-class submarine" as proposed. - theWOLFchild 21:43, 18 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
