Did You Know
A fact from this article appeared on Wikipedia's Main Page in the "Did you know?" column on December 4, 2008.
The text of the entry was: Did you know ... that Rajendra Prasad was the first President of India and the only one to have held the office for two terms?
Current status: Featured list

List[edit]

The key shows two symbols: a dagger (†) that shows the President died in office, and an inverted dagger that shows the President resigned. The dagger is shown against F A Ahmed — but the inverted dagger doesn't appear against any name ... so why is it shown? Prisoner of Zenda (talk) 10:36, 31 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Removal of Previous power/office(s) of the Presidents, which is relevant to the information[edit]

Hello! Good Evening I had brought in some new information about the previous offices held by the respective Presidents of India. This information would help all users in gaining information and knowledge about the career background of the Presidents. This edit was reverted User:DaxServer stating the irrelevance of the information. I do feel that these knowledge would help Indian community to gain more political awareness and understanding. Hence I request that I would re-edit the same relevant information back into the table. Thank you Souryadeep630 (talk) 04:15, 1 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

User:DaxServer Souryadeep630 (talk) 04:16, 1 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I still don't see why it's relevant here in this article. Looking at the FA-promoted version [1], I see a notes column. It was modified [2] and removed eventually [3]. I intend to restore it to the original version as in the first link. Or you can do that if you are interested. — DaxServer (t · c) 08:34, 1 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

The notes column is totally not needed as the same huge information about a president would be unnecessary, unlike the precise background information about their previous powers, thereby giving an idea to users about the previois fields and experience of the president. That was all the intention Souryadeep630 (talk) 12:31, 1 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Souryadeep630 You can post at Wikipedia talk:Noticeboard for India-related topics to ask for comments from more editors — DaxServer (t · c) 12:42, 1 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @DaxServer I'm sorry but as rightly you mentioned "Or you can do that if you are interested", I posted the previous edit. Can I please know if there is any harm if the same is published in the new column without objections. Thank you — Souryadeep630 (talk) 17:18, 1 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hello @Souryadeep630, it looks like there is a misunderstanding. I was talking about the notes from the FA-promoted version. I've anyway self-reverted, I just don't have the enthusiasm and time right now to deal with this article. Just a note: the Featured articles or Featured lists are high quality articles produced by the community and we intend to keep them at such quality and standards. This article probably needs some more care anyway. Hope you do the necessary updates. I still suggest inviting others from Wikipedia talk:Noticeboard for India-related topics for article improvements. Good luck with editing, hope you enjoy it! Thanks for your edits :) — DaxServer (t · c) 18:05, 1 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@DaxServer Those are kind and encouraging words. Thank You :-)

@Souryadeep630, I agree with Dax. This is quite unnecessary. All that information on career background is already available in the articles on the respective persons and is just a click away. Repetition from individual articles makes the table unwieldy while adding nothing of value. Hemantha (talk) 04:48, 3 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @User:Hemantha, Fine but all the information in the table is available in the individual articles too, just away from a click. What I feel is on a table the precise and handy information must be available for users. If any user needs any precise background information of several presidents, all the info would be available at a single click in this very table. This column has also been present in list of governors of states. Thank you Souryadeep630 (talk) 05:53, 3 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Open it in mobile (or use this link) and see how it looks. There is no need to bloat the table any more than necessary. I've removed it since you agree information is available easily elsewhere. Hemantha (talk) 11:39, 3 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@User:Hemantha I'm sorry, this is unjust removal of some hardly worked and researched information. You have also just stated removal of information on agreement which i'm unaware of. This just saddens and discourages editors of their work and contributions to wikipedia. Do you also tend to remove columns from these governors link1 and governors link2 stating it as irrelevant. Souryadeep630 (talk) 15:06, 5 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Souryadeep630, Two people have disagreed with you about the usefulness of this. The next step is to get third opinions or use RfCs. What you are doing is borderline edit war. Hemantha (talk) 13:29, 11 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, Hemantha I can see you have avoided the question on governors link above. Would you delete all such columns present in almost all articles Souryadeep630 (talk) 13:35, 11 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

DaxServer brought the column back as present now, after some discussions, and you brought your views which is fair. So there is one opposition from your side about relevance. We can take it RfCs right now before bringing in further deletion or changes. Souryadeep630 (talk) 13:36, 11 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

No, not responding to irrelevant points isn't avoiding. Those are less watched, non-FL lists which aren't models and are full of unnecessary cruft. Holding up some other bloated list as a model seems to indicate lack of proper basis for your changes. Your continued mis-characterisation of others' actions is stretching my AGF quite thin. Party status[edit]

The president represents the country and does not belong to any party either after his election but to the nation 2409:4053:C8D:840B:A4E4:7AC4:29AF:E6E (talk) 21:17, 23 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Current president[edit]

Syrriana, Ram Nath Kovind is still the president of India. His term will expire on 25 July and Droupadi Murmu hasn't taken oath yet and should not be added to the list. --Bears (talk) 16:59, 21 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
