Proposed merge[edit]

I am in complete agreement that most of the contestants on Season Two of So You Think You Can Dance are not necessarily independently notable now that the season is over. For most of them, unless some other proof of notability emerges, their independent bio pages can and should be merged into this "finalists" page, and their names set up as redirects. Specifically:

If they do become independently notable later, their individual bio pages can be easily re-created and expanded.

The only merge that I am disagreeing with at this time, is Musa Cooper. Granted, he's borderline, but he has enough appearances/mentions in enough different venues to cover it for me. Both seasons of So You Think You Can Dance, cameo appearances on such television programs as Sex in the City, performing at the MTV Video Music Awards, his high school trackstar status [1], he's hosting a "hiphop workout" podcast in his role as a fitness model, has his own IMDB page [2], and his name is being used to promote other things, such as someone else's movie [3], as as of August 8, some Tucson dance classes [4]. Granted, this may diminish in coming months, but as long as his name continues to be mentioned in current press, I'm going to argue for current notability. In a few months' time, it may be a different story, and another AfD may be appropriate to test community consensus.

Bottom line, I recommend that all the other above bios be merged, but Cooper's be left independent. Does that sound reasonable? --Elonka 16:02, 18 August 2006 (UTC)

Along with Musa Cooper, I also believe that Travis Wall meets the standard for individual notability. --Elonka 16:29, 22 August 2006 (UTC)

Agree on the merge[edit]

I certainly agree on the merge (and I...erm...started a couple of the pages to be merged). T'would seem that of the Top Twenty there are some that have achieved "independent status": Benji, Travis, Heidi, Dmitry, and Musa (re: the above), but the rest - hopefully they will, but not yet? On the other hand, it would be good to have at least token listings for all 20 in the "finalists" page. DukeEGR93 04:41, 28 August 2006 (UTC)

Don't Agree on the Merge[edit]

I don't agree on the merge especially when it includes Donyelle (Denise) Jones. She also has her own imdb page http://imdb.com/name/nm1829921/ as well as staring in several videos. I feel as if she has independent pages on imdb, moviesonline.com, etc. She deserves her own page. —Preceding unsigned comment added by MoasMom (talkcontribs) 09:51, August 29, 2006

I don't agree because Jessica is my dance teacher and she deserves her own page! HMPH! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.146.103.244 (talk) 22:23, 23 September 2007 (UTC)

Either way merge should be resolved[edit]

I dont know anything about the subject, but in general it would be nice to clear all these out of the backlog. Simply put - apart from the ones mentioned - who are the ones whom are definately non-controversial mergers? Orchid Righteous 12:42, 30 August 2006 (UTC)

What I would do for now, is on this "finalists" page, create a one-paragraph bio for all 20 of the finalists. For those that have their own pages, we can include the {{main}} template. Then once the merge decision is made, we can redirect the appropriate bio pages, and simply remove the "main" template from that person`s paragraph. --Elonka 22:45, 30 August 2006 (UTC)

Merge complete[edit]

I have made my best guess at consensus, and finished in merging in all the non-notable bios to this finalists page. It could still use some cleanup in terms of making all the different bio styles consistent though, if someone would like to help with that. There are also a couple people (such as Erin) for whom we have very little info, so it would be helpful if someone could pull in a few basic bio details from the Fox website. --Elonka 02:04, 10 September 2006 (UTC)
