Split + forking[edit]

The article was approaching nearly 300,000 characters (!) and that was with European clubs already split (into List of association football club rivalries in Europe). Therefore I have split out the article as per WP:SIZESPLIT and precedent into:

I put the two Americas together because:

  • Mexican and Costa Rican clubs sometimes participate in South American club competitions
  • Guyana, Suriname, and French Guyana compete in Caribbean competitions despite being geographically in South America
  • There is a large gap between the Caribbean and Central American clubs anyway, with their own competitions
  • The two sections weren't big enough on their own

I put Asia and Oceania together as:

  • It solves the Australia issue, being geographically, curturally and politically not part of Asia, but they moved from OFC to AFC for footballing/sporting reasons
  • Only New Zealand was listed in the OFC section
  • New Zealand clubs (or club at the moment) participate in the A-league anyway, making them eligible for AFC competitions.

Ferguson-Mourinho[edit]

Mostly friendly, initially hotly contested and bitter. One considered other as potential successor apparently, that which was eventually fulfilled. Overlap substantial with United Chels rivalry. 41.58.252.179 (talk) 12:42, 2 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Other Mou rivalries[edit]
