Flippancy[edit]

Many of these entries (such as that for Blues Brothers 2000), are incredibly flippant. I'll be looking into fixing as many as I see, but something to look out for, this (mild?) vandalism.

Additions[edit]

Arnold Schwarzenegger injured his back and knee ligaments (from a camel kick) during filming of early 80's Conan the Barbarian. (source: imdb.com)

Harrison Ford has injured himself multiple times. He tore his ACL after a plane ran over his leg in 1981's Indian Jones. He tore the ACL in the other knee during the filming of 1993's Fugitive. He has also has a signifant back injury that required surgery during Indiana Jones (1984). He also sustained a shoulder injury during rehearsals for Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny (2023).

Paul Walker tore his ACL during Fast and Furious 6 (2013).

Jackie Chan has suffered innumerable injuries.

Jason Stratham has suffered numerous injuries in film including a torn meniscus which chronically swells.

Denzel Washington tore up his knee (meniscus; cartilage) during preparation for He Got Game (1998). He did not have full range of motion during the filming of the movie. Wrestling?[edit]

Why are wrestling events, pay per view ones at that, included in this article about " film accidents " ?

I already clipped it. Even with a move to List of TV and film accidents wrestling wouldn't belong. While wrestling is fake it is not fake. The athleticism is real. Of those listed only the Owen Hart incident really compares. I don't want to say it is fake because it is a topic best dealt by the Oxbridge debating clubs and Owen Hart's death was obviously unintended (because I remembered the news associated with it), my concern of this list is the size. I feel overall, the minor injuries one should be removed. Keep the deaths, the serious injuries (like so many of the infamous Jackie Chan accidents) and those involving the bigger liability (e.g the star actor). My point was that only Owen Hart's death compares to the other listings as it wasn't sports related. Every other wrestling inury is sports related. And I hear your concern about the list size but honestly they won't quit making movies and they want quit doing stunts. This list will continue to grow unless the world is destroyed. A couple possible additions[edit]

Here a couple to consider adding. First, I heard on AMC (American Movie Classics, a cable television network that shows movies and some original programming) Frank Sinatra got injured while filming the original film version of The Manchurian Candidate. It was during the scene in which he fought with the servant/spy that he recognized as being involved in their conditioning somehow. He started throwing punches and asking questions. At one point he punched through a table. He thought that the table was the fake, easily breakable kind used for movie fights, but it turned out it was a real table. Ol' Blue Eyes broke a finger or two as a result. The other one was a story I read in the weekly TV booklet that comes with our newspaper. Breaking Bad was just starting and so there was an article about Bryan Cranston. It's been a while, so I apologize if I'm misremembering the story. It said that he once played a corpse on an episode of The X-Files (meaning this probably would have been the 1990s). The scene was they found a body in the desert, and there they were filming in the desert heat with Bryan lying face down on the highway pavement. When they were finished, Bryan got up and his face was burned. The surprised crew asked why he didn't ask to stop the shoot and he replied that he wanted to finish the scene. If those stories can be confirmed, then they might make good additions to this article. If they're just rumors, then I apologize. Evernut (talk) 15:47, 10 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Maria Perschy[edit]

Typical idiotic list[edit]

Example:

Fury (2014). During filming in Oxfordshire, a stuntman was accidentally stabbed in the shoulder by a bayonet during rehearsals.

  • More idiot entries:
  • The Alamo (1960). Actor Laurence Harvey, who played Colonel W B Travis, was injured when a cannon recoiled whilst firing, with one of the wheels rolling over his foot, fracturing it. He did not reveal his injury until filming of the scene was completed.[1]
  • Spartacus (1960). Actor Charles McGraw suffered a broken jaw on the set of the Roman epic. During the revolt at the Gladiator school, Spartacus (Kirk Douglas) is seen forcing the head of evil trainer Marcellus (McGraw) into a cauldron of soup, drowning him. McGraw's jaw struck the rim of the pot, sustaining a fracture but he managed to continue the scene nonetheless.

Remove 1950s: The Conquerer (1956)[edit]

The entry about the cancer rate among the cast and crew of The Conquerer should be deleted. It says that 41.36% (91 out of 220) of the cast and crew developed some form of cancer within 25 years of making the film and implies that this has something to do with nuclear weapons testing done 3 years before filming and 137 miles "upwind". According to the American Cancer Society, 42.05% of men and 37.58% of women in the United States will develop some form of cancer. Apparently, the nuclear weapons testing had no noticeable effect on the rate of cancer among the cast and crew of the film. Cancer is just that pervasive. Large revision[edit]

This list was incredibly overcrowded and just packed to the brim with absolutely trivial injuries. It just was not informational or readable, and I assure you no one is looking to find out about every single little injury ever to befall any actor in any film or show anywhere in the world. They are just too common and everyday to be listed. Especially fight or action scene injuries - they are far too numerous to be on a list like this. For example, there were a LOT of Jackie Chan injuries on here. Don't get me wrong, I love Jackie Chan - but he hurt himself in some way on pretty much every film set of his early career. That was the nature of what he did! That information would be better on his own page rather than crowding this list. For informational purposes, we need to be a lot more conservative about adding to this list, and stick to things like major mechanical failures, fatalities, life-threatening or permanent injuries, et cetera. So, I took the liberty of cutting this list down significantly to make it more interesting and accessible to the reader. It's still pretty long, but it's better. They might have been small injuries but many of them seem to have been properly sourced. It is sad to see the good faith efforts of other editors deleted when it is was properly sourced. Illnesses shouldn't be included[edit]

This list is supposed to be accidents and mishaps occurring during filming. The example of John Rhys-Davies nearly dying from cholera during filming of Raiders of the Lost Ark doesn't belong here, as he could have just as easily caught that taking a holiday. Likewise any other examples involving illness should be trimmed - at least those one would consider naturally caused. Disagree. Such illnesses should be included when they are an accidental result of hazardous working conditions on a film set or prove to be based on some other mishap. Django Unchained[edit]

I might be in the wrong, but I think I remember a cast member saying in an interview that fake blood was wiped onto Brunhilda’s face, not Candy’s actual blood. This would change the part saying DiCaprio used his blood “as a prop”. TheXug (talk) 01:08, 14 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

The Return of the Hobbit[edit]

Hi there! Now, I’m not well-versed with Wikipedia’s revision mechanics, not well enough to locate specific revisions at least, but at one point The Hobbit had its entry removed from the list due to it specifically being animal-related and not people-related. I can’t find who added it back, but was there good reasoning for that or should it be removed?

Light Brigade Charge vs Boots On[edit]

Noted the cite challenge to impaled on sword 1936 fall to Flynn's story in his bio. There continues to be confusion over his friend Bill Meade (or Mead) and extra Bulhong who is mentioned in contemporary news accounts about later film They Died with their Boots On. There could have been 2 similar falls or Flynn was just misremembering. Someone might check Niven's bio to see his version. IMDB (although not an official wiki source) also lists 2 other extras/stuntmen that died in 1941 from accidents associated with Boots their only known credit.
