I think we should consider some facts :

  • 1. this is list of historical iranian architects. modern era is not historic.
  • 2. should everyone put his name or his favorites architects here? there are more than 10000 registered architects in iran alone. it will end into mess if it goes like that.
  • 3. people like kaveh masih, yazdani and nadi jahangiri have not built or designed(as far as i know) anything in iran, should they be here ?
  • 4.i suggest we should define a method to choose who should be here or not. lets say those who have at least two awarded works/10 articles/.... you name it --Babakgh 20:39, 16 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]
  1. We can include separate lists for modern and historical ones. Just like we did for the scientists list. That shouldnt be a problem.
  2. True, there are numerous mimars in Iranian history. But none of them are known in the west, even among architectural historians. Thats why we need this list. I have taken the liberty to mention the ones I thought were important. Everyone is not mentioned, obviously. And as you can see, the list only runs up til the 15th century. I frankly got tired of typing. You can help and continue building the list. But lets make it a list of the very best of.
  3. Yes people like Kaveh Masih should be on the list. The list is not about Iranian architects/mimars in Iran, as the title also says so. It pertains to any architect/mimar who is Iranian by heritage or ethnicity whether they be practising in Iran or not. Nadi Jahangiri e.g. is quite well known in UK circles, though he may not be known in Iran. But that shouldnt exclude him from this list.--Zereshk 04:09, 15 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Babak, please help me complete these pages. Before I came here, there was nothing on Wkipedia about Iranian architecture, not even one page. I created all pages pertaining to any aspect of architecture of Iran singlehandedly. Dahanam servees shod. Your help in adding to this body would be greatly appreciated. Especially if you have self taken pictures. Wikipedia is the only place on the web with such info.--Zereshk 04:27, 15 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Tanx for the comment nima; I almost agree with you, in most cases. However, i still think we should separate modern architects and then justify them by their real achievements.believe me, i have not heard kaveh massih before,(thats why encyclopedia is for !) .while i think making architects inside/outside could be more difficult as there are people like Mirmiran who design projects inside and outside iran and maybe there are those who have ofiices in both... but no practical solution! anyway, i like to put some time in this page... tanx ;)--Babakgh 20:39, 16 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I think the solution is easy. All we have to do is have separate lists. Having them on one page is beneficial, because many Iranian architects living in America can learn about Iranian architects in Iran, and vice versa. For example, many people in Iran will learn about Kaveh Masih, who has won over 50 national awards, competitions, and recognitions, who has also been recognized by AIA as "an emergent talent firm". Or as another example, many people in Iran will be interested to learn that Farshid Moussavi submitted a design for The Azadi Cineplex for Vezarat Farhang in 1997, even though her firm is British and she is from Harvard.
I think we can use this page as a bridge to connect architects from outside and inside Iran to eachother.--Zereshk 00:37, 18 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]
