Boy does this ever need alphabetization. Evertype 09:32, 17 March 2006 (UTC)

If you want to see practically the same list in alphabetical order, click on the Category (at least for those with articles so far). This list is supposed to be chronological (in order of approximate date) ፈቃደ (ውይይት) 13:07, 17 March 2006 (UTC)

I'm new at this but here goes! Hugin Ok Munin (talk) 21:11, 29 September 2009 (UTC)

Sortable table format[edit]

The content in this article would be showed better if it were to be listed as a sortable table, where each reader could sort by ay of several categories. I suggest the following categories: Invention year, country, continent, shorthand (yes/no), writing systems intended to be unreabable for all but the chosen few (yes/no), whether the inventor could read/write another writing system before his invention or if he was a illiterate who did the whole thing from scratch, and a field to put various unclassified notes.-- (talk) 10:55, 1 January 2012 (UTC)

Good idea. The list was originally in chronological order, but some time ago, an editor took it upon himself to put it in "alphabetical" order which is far less informative or useful to people actually interested in the subject. He did not have proper consensus to do this, and should have been reverted, but I never got around to fixing it. Til Eulenspiegel (talk) 12:38, 1 January 2012 (UTC)

Lead in[edit]

The lead in needs rewriting - some of the historical figures did actually invent the writing systems associated with them, rather than purportedly so. Jackiespeel (talk) 10:30, 6 December 2017 (UTC)
