Jiang means river[edit]

Ok I just checked in google using phonetic spelling and the word 'Jiang' appears to mean 'River'

So should various rivers be getting called the XXXjiang River or just the XXX river. I'm not sure what the common practice is in this case? EdwardLane (talk) 10:20, 21 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

See WP:NC-ZH#Topographical. The generally accepted conventions/guidelines in effect asks editors to avoid such pleonasms as "Mudanjiang River". —HXL's Roundtable and Record 13:34, 22 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
