listings of locales[edit]

Why list a coffee place in Miami in between Hawaii and Illinois?

Ellesmere Island must be someone's idea of a joke. That far north even the peak summer temperature is too cold for nudism to be practical. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.163.162.98 (talk) 20:02, 25 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Removed Okracoke from list of nude beaches[edit]

All beaches on the outer banks are part of the Cape Hatteras National Seashore, a federal park. There is no nudity allowed on any beach on Okracoke, or in the vicinity. You might be able to get away with it and not get caught due to the remoteness, but it is illegal. Including it in the list of places where "nudity is allowed" is misleading and incorrect. Then I will have to cite you for "public Indecency". The fact that you read it on Wiki and are a tourist who didn't know any better isn't a legal defense. "No nudity. There are no nude beaches on the Outer Banks." ~ Cape Hatteras National Park Service publication.

moved from talk[edit]

  • Privacy Campground in Hancock contains a nude sunbathing area and permits skinny dipping. NO IT DOESN'T! Along with many signs saying NO DOGS, this lovely campground says NO NUDISTS at the entrance. Please note.

States of the US[edit]

The list within the United States is incomplete. Several of the states are listed as 'nudity is illegal' or something like that. But I counted sixteen states (including Delaware, Georgia, Rhode Island, and Wyoming) that are NOT in the list. What is the nudity status of these sixteen states? Also, what about the District of Columbia? hello (talk) 08:15, 8 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

It should be noted that under the Oregon State Constitution, public nudity is protected as freedom of expression. As a result, public social nudity takes place in numerous locations not given any official designation, since none is needed. In remote areas, it used to be the case that people swimming in clothes were regarded with suspicion, though this may have died out. Dismalscholar (talk) 03:14, 24 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

New York state[edit]

Only four places are listed for New York state. Only the first one has any links. Is the entire city of Ithaca allowing some nudity? Or is this still only limited to beaches? Is public nudity allowed anywhere in the capital district? hello (talk) 08:15, 8 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Someone removed the Ithaca listing today along with some others. A quick Google of the mentioned "Potter's Falls" reveals a mixed bag of information. Some say skinydipping here is ok; others say no. Probably someone with local knowlege who knows where to find a definitive source is needed --Arg342 (talk) 01:47, 6 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Topless?[edit]

Places with only topless bathing is off-topic. They are not naturist. Naturist beach means that complete nudity is allowed. --Oddeivind (talk) 19:13, 5 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I would agree with this. The title and introduction of the article is fairly clear and would limit the scope. --Arg342 (talk) 13:20, 29 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Cleanup[edit]

I just placed a cleanup tag on this article. It has a significant number of red links and citations only to private clubs' own websites, and the article risks resembling a WP:DIRECTORY for private nudist and échangiste clubs, non-notable and notable alike. --Ohconfucius ¡digame! 04:33, 15 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

This is partly true. The article needs a lot of work, but I think it can be kept. I would suggest that the article could fall under the category of WP:LSC, specifically "Short, complete lists of every item that is verifiably a member of the group." The only reason it fails this at the moment is because of excess text makes it exceed the 32K guideline.
Most of the items on this list will not meet notability guidelines on their own. Considering the question "If this person/thing/etc., wasn't an X, would it reduce their fame or significance?", the answer for nearly all the places listed would be that they would have very little significance. However, because the list is short, the fact that they are a member of this list makes them somewhat notable.
Based on this, I would propose that for each listed item, contributors should always try to find find reliable third party sources per WP:SOURCES, in addition to the first party source already presented by most items on the list, so that Verifiability can be clearly established. If a place is not notable, it should not get redlinked. Normal standards should apply for neutrality, removing advertising copy, etc.--Arg342 (talk) 14:06, 29 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Plagiarism![edit]

I would just like to point out that someone under the name of "Tyler Reeh" is selling a word-for-word copy of this Wikipedia article in the form of a Kindle e-book for $8.95 on Amazon. I know Wikipedia is public domain, but it seems like it still must be illegal for this person to be claiming authorship and profiting from the article without properly attributing it to Wikipedia.

The link is now broken. Looks like the e-book has been removed. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.66.34.242 (talk) 13:34, 28 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Removed San Vicente Inn[edit]

San Vicente Inn (Los Angeles) has new ownership and is no longer clothing-optional. "Jeff Klein, owner of the San Vicente Inn, laid out his plans to transform the dilapidated bungalows that make up the San Vicente’s properties into a swank urban inn."

http://www.wehoville.com/2014/02/12/latest-meeting-draws-support-neighbors-san-vicente-inn-project/

The operator at reservations phone line says that clothing-optional is not allowed any more. Jefft0 (talk) — Preceding undated comment added 22:43, 1 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Only places with articles[edit]

Since Wikipedia is not a directory I think we should follow the guidance at WP:LISTCRIT and only include items here that are notable. Otherwise, this is merely a collection of external links hidden as citations. Thoughts? --ZimZalaBim talk 21:56, 30 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

No one seems to care. I'm going to start scrubbing listings that just are a link to their own website. General associations or public parks seem likely ok, but not just business operations. --ZimZalaBim talk 21:24, 14 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
