Some history

[edit]

It appears that the "park connections and traffic relief routes" are from 1929: [1]

  • Carthage bypass
  • Hannibal bypass (US 24)
  • Wentzville to St. Louis
  • Gray Summit to St. Louis (US 66)
  • Kansas City to Blue Springs
  • Ellisville to Chesterfield

This is the highest number I can find per year:

Even
  • 1922-1928?: 98
    • Where was the original 100?
  • 1930-1935?: 120?
  • 1952 goes up to 156
    • also has 240, 340
  • 1957: 168 and 170 were formed
  • 1980: 190 was formed
Odd
  • 1922-1928?: 71
    • Where were the original 73 and 75?
  • 1930-1935?: 119?
  • 1952 goes up to 153
  • 1959: 161 was formed
  • 1967: 185 was formed
