Explanation: Players who didn't play at a professional level are excluded (for example Josef Bican) —The preceding [[Wikipedia:Signatures == Bold text =='Bold text''''Bold text''''Bold text'Bold text''''''' |unsigned]] comment was added by GHoeberX (talk • contribs).
- According to the article about Josef Bican he did play professionaly, and when he did not it was due to the (pseudo-)ammateur status of footballers in communist countries those days. I've added him to the top of the list. - Nabla 14:36, 24 May 2007 (UTC)
Why the title is not Official Professional Goals?--ClaudioMB 05:00, 19 July 2007 (UTC)
- Or Soccer, as lots of people have scored more goals in other types of football. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 220.127.116.11 (talk) 04:26, 29 January 2008 (UTC)
Since just the RSSSF are the only reference of information, perhaps it would be a good idea to change the heading... —Preceding unsigned comment added by 18.104.22.168 (talk) 20:22, 25 July 2008 (UTC)
Yeah, Since the RSSSF are the only reference and it's not a regular Statistic Institution but a amateur that don't have how to proof their assertions, this article is a sad example ( minority fortunately ) as how wikipedia can be employed for one little group's benefit —Preceding unsigned comment added by 22.214.171.124 (talk) 22:08, 29 September 2008 (UTC)
Misuse of statistics?
What happened to this article?
This article iUsed to have 3 lists from differen sources and now it has one. I don't see how that is an improvement. I think It has been deliberately manipulated. How is less information better than more. A shame... — Preceding unsigned comment added by 126.96.36.199 (talk) 14:28, 27 January 2013 (UTC)
- I added a Disputed template. This list has Pele with his friendly goals but Muller without. Then there is Dondinho who are not cited by RSSSF. Bican's numbers are not same in RSSSF. Friedenreich, from where are those numbers? I support two lists: one with only official goals and one with friendly goals. Kahkonen (talk) 10:46, 22 June 2013 (UTC)
Too argumentative and too small a list
Is there someway of satisfying everyone's argument (I think you SHOULD include friendlies goals and you SHOULD try to get more than one source for the guys before Pele)?
And can you expand this list to the Top 20 or 25 scorers (so that we can see how much further CRonaldo and Messi have to go)?
Please come up with some sort of consensus.
To pay attention, players soon to reach 500
Which players are known to be close to 500 and to have to be included soon? I've been trying to track them, here it's one, Zlatan Ibrahimovic 486 (62 national team + 7 sub-20, sub-17 national team + 417 club)
