Symbol question.svg Interesting life and work, on good sources, no copyvio obvious. Hook: the fact is great, but the clue comes too late. Something like a chronological order of being told no, writing, award. This award, should it be award or Award? Consistency please ;) Also, any link to tell some ignorant like me why it's important? - I think that in article and hook, you better introduce her as Native American, or people might think of India. Article: I am no friend of one-sentence paragraphs, nor of ref numbers not sorted. How do you feel about an infobox? --Gerda Arendt (talk) 08:46, 5 October 2019 (UTC)
A helper supplied the link to the award! - One more: can you please move all refs from the lead to the body, where the info should also be? --Gerda Arendt (talk) 10:05, 5 October 2019 (UTC)
Hey, Gerda! Thanks for starting review. This is one of those fact-stuffed hooks that are difficult to compose. I've removed from the first two ALTs below the fact it was the first NA cookbook ever to win the award, see if that helps. The third is chrono. I've removed the refs from the lead; it was all already covered in the body. Re: infoboxes, I can take or leave them. I usually leave if I don't have an image, which so far I don't. I've sent her an email, and as she's also a professional photographer I'm hoping she'll give us one. Re: introing her as NA, I've added Kiowa to hook, was already in article.
ALT1: ... that when Kiowa tribe member Lois Ellen Frank (pictured) first proposed her 2003 James Beard Award-winning cookbook on Native American foods, publishers told her there was no such cuisine?
ALT2: ... that when Kiowa tribe member Lois Ellen Frank (pictured) first proposed the James Beard winner Foods of the Southwest Indian Nations, publishers told her there was no such thing as Native American cuisine?
ALT3 ... that after publishers told Kiowa tribe member Lois Ellen Frank (pictured) there was no such thing as Native American cuisine, she wrote Foods of the Southwest Indian Nations, the first such cookbook to win a James Beard Award?

Symbol confirmed.svg Thank you, and I like ALT1 best, as less repetitive than the others. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 23:18, 6 October 2019 (UTC)
Gerda Arendt, she's had a photographer upload some images, so I've added one that will need approval, and we can add an infobox if you like! --valereee (talk) 11:59, 11 October 2019 (UTC)
Symbol confirmed.svg lovely licensed picture. Phaps some cropping for the stamp-size presentation would be good, David, what do you think. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 12:36, 11 October 2019 (UTC)
Here's a cropped version

Promoters, this image has just been tagged for deletion, the uploader has opened a ticket, but it may be a while, so don't promote yet. --valereee (talk) 23:24, 17 October 2019 (UTC)
