Updates to the Article

Hello, I am the COI editor for Schusterman Family Philanthropies, and for Lynn and Stacy Schusterman. In an effort to update the article, I am looking to make the following changes:

• The second paragraph of the Biography section is largely about Lynn's husband, Charles, and not about Lynn herself. This information is available on Charles' page, so it does not belong here. Please delete the information that is solely about Charles, so that the paragraph reads:

In 1962, she married Charles Schusterman, who was of Russian-Jewish origin. He died in 2000.

• Please add this sentence to the end of the Biography section:

In 2011, Schusterman's daughter, Stacy H. Schusterman became co-Chair with her mother, and in 2018, Lynn transitioned to Chair Emeritus with Stacy becoming Chair.

• In the third paragraph of the Philanthropy section, the second sentence reads: She is a supporter of Teach For America and Teach For All, and was instrumental in establishing Teach For America to create a corps in Tulsa and Israel. To increase accuracy, please change this to:

She is a supporter of Teach for America and Teach First Israel and was instrumental in establishing a TFA corps in Tulsa and bringing TFA participants to Israel.

• Lastly, please delete the final sentence of that same paragraph- the one that reads "In 2017 Haruv Institute establish the Haruv USA at OU Tulsa, in aim to share the Jerusalem Haruv Institute experience."- as it is unclear, unrelated to Lynn, and contains many typos.

Additions and Updates to the Article

Hello. I am requesting the following additions and updates to this article: Please add the following sentences to the end of the Biography section to better reflect Lynn's profile:

• After her husband's death, Schusterman became Chair of the Family Philanthropies. In 2011, she became Co-chair with her daughter Stacy Schusterman, and in 2018 she was named Chair Emeritus.

In addition, I would like to add the following awards to the Honors section:

• In 2021, Schusterman was awarded an honorary Doctorate of Humane Letters from Brandeis University.
• In 2022, Schusterman and her daughter were awarded a Carnegie Medal of Philanthropy.

I also request that the honors removed by a different editor be reinserted into the article. It appears these awards were removed in error as the institutions granting these honors have their own Wikipedia pages, the term honorary degree has a Wikipedia page as well, and the sources provided are in line with Wikipedia policy:

• In 2007 she received an honorary Doctorate of Humane Letters from the Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion.
• Schusterman was honored in 2008 with the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars Public Service award.

@GrantRSchusterman, I'm taking a look at your request and first just want to note where the article is at. It has a few issues that need fixing. First, it reads a little promotional, but is not the worst offender I've seen in that regard. I'm not the best editor for fixing that issue. However, I'm pretty good at fixing the second issue I see: this article relies heavily on primary sources that are self published sources. Any information in the article cited to the Schusterman foundation is a self-published source that lacks editorial oversight and is not independent and should not be used in a Biography of a living person. With that preface out of the way, I'm happy to take a look at your requested changed and work on the article a little. Taken in order:

• Add information on who's running the Schusterman foundation- Partially done; I found secondary sources for the taking over after Charles's death in 2000 and Stacy taking over in 2018, but I can't find the 2011 date outside of the primary sources from the family foundation which should not be used due to policy on self published sourcing. I think adding a date for when Stacy starts co-leading would be good to add, but would prefer a secondary source here.
• Add honorary doctorate from Brandeis University- done with the context of her donation and board membership mentioned by Brandeis in the source cited.
• Add Carnegie Medal- Done
• Add Hebrew College honorary doctorate- Done; I will note the sourcing should probably be better than a university newsletter for this though. Don't be surprised if it's removed again and let me know if there is better sourcing.
• Woodrow Wilson Award- done
