biography - quotes

[edit]

Layla Rose Handbury was born 5 October 1982 in Perth, Western Australia. Her first gig was at an MC battle in Perth[1] where she was the only female among 20 entrants.

"I've written poetry for years and I've always listened to hip-hop. Then they just sort of merged one day. I just thought I might do it to a beat and I did it and it just went from there. I never thought, I wanna be an MC.[2]

Hanbury vs Handbury

[edit]

Some sources give Handbury as her last name, e.g. Hegarty in The Age and Parks in X-Press Magazine. However I've gone for Hanbury per Burke's Peerage, APRA and ASCAP (Click on 'Writers' tab and search for HANBURY LAYLA ROSE). The latter three refs are now in the article.shaidar cuebiyar (talk) 07:46, 11 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
