Requested move 28 January 2018[edit]

The result of the move request was: for the time being, removing the disambiguator and moving to Ukrainian Catholic Major Archeparchy of Kiev–Galicia as requested. The point that the phrase "Ukrainian Catholic" may be unnecessary is worth further discussion, but moving this page alone to such a title while at least 30 others in the category Category:Ukrainian Greek Catholic eparchies retain the prefix would seem to be counterproductive. A large number of these do not appear to correspond to other Eastern Catholic jurisdictions. If any editors think it necessary to pursue removing "Ukrainian Catholic," I'd suggest a multimove request to discuss removing the phrase from all the articles in the category at once. Major Archeparchy of Kiev–Galicia (Kyiv-Halych)Ukrainian Catholic Major Archeparchy of Kiev–Galicia – This name is more reasonable than one with parentheses in it; also conforms to the conventional title style for other Ukrainian Catholic jurisdictions RAVENPVFF | talk ~ 02:00, 28 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

  • @Ravenpuff and 142.161.81.20: queried move request Anthony Appleyard (talk) 04:51, 28 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • @Ravenpuff: Why not simply Major Archeparchy of Kiev–Galicia? 142.161.81.20 (talk) 03:01, 28 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose – Having not heard back from the move's original proponent, I don't see why the phrase Ukrainian Catholic needs to be included. They are correct that it is often included for other Eastern Catholic jurisdictions; however, that is because it is often used for natural disambiguation. (Such usage is consistent with the titling of articles about dioceses and other equivalent ecclesiastical jurisdictions in other denominations.) In this case, it does not appear that disambiguation is required. So instead, I will propose that the article be instead moved to Major Archeparchy of Kiev–Galicia. 142.161.81.20 (talk) 05:08, 29 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Apologies for my late reply. The title of this article seems not to be fully descriptive, primarily as it has no qualification of the major archeparchy as being Ukrainian [Greek] Catholic. While I see the point of natural disambiguation in some cases, virtually all jurisdictions (Eastern Catholic or otherwise) are conventionally titled on Wikipedia as being of the pertinent particular church – for example, in the UGCC itself, the Ukrainian Catholic Archeparchy of Przemyśl–Warsaw, the Ukrainian Catholic Archeparchy of Ivano-Frankivsk and the Ukrainian Catholic Archeparchy of Ternopil–Zboriv, none of which have other jurisdictions of the same name but yet have the prefix of "Ukrainian Catholic". Furthermore, the article title should clearly and unambiguously tell readers arriving at the page that this major archeparchy is of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church, like how other related articles about ecclesiastical jurisdictions around Wikipedia do similarly. The Romanian, Syro-Malabar and Syro-Malankara major archeparchies do so; why not the Ukrainian one? RAVENPVFF | talk ~ 16:03, 30 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
