01666 area code

Has anyone, anywhere commented on the town's "devilish" area code, 01666? I searched Google for "malmesbury 666" and found nothing of note. Surely someone, somewhere has said something about it, at least in passing. 161.130.188.50 (talk) 03:24, 13 February 2014 (UTC)

Thanks to Tom Valentine Rogers for pointing out the error over the supposed 880 charter. However I do not think the comment belongs in the lead (and the crucial statement that there is no evidence for an 880 charter is not referenced). I have edited based on a reliable source - Barbara Yorke. The Victoria County History mentions the town celebrating its 1100th anniversary in 1980 based on the wrong information, and if Tom agrees he might combine this with the information in his own source to make a good story in modern history. Hello,

While browsing web sites we came across your site and saw that you had a great deal of information regarding Malmesbury within your content.

I was wondering whether you thought it would be a good idea to include a travel section to inform people of the different ways they can come and go from Malmesbury.

Such as a link to the local bus company i.e. www.Andybus.co.uk and Abbey Taxi's for instance.

I hope everyone else agrees and thinks this is a good idea.

Cheers

Proposed merge of Westport, Wiltshire into Malmesbury

Under the guidelines set out in WP:UKVILLAGES, more specifically the Depopulated Settlements section. As Westport doesn't contain enough information to make it a Good Article and Malmesbury has absorbed the former village it in its entirety, it doesn't merit its own article and it should be described in the Malmesbury article. Support. Remember to keep the 'Former civil parishes in Wiltshire' category on the redirect. --Wire723 (talk) 10:31, 4 May 2020 (UTC)
