Wikipedia:Caribbean Wikipedians' notice board[edit]

I would like to announce the establishment of the Wikipedia:Caribbean Wikipedians' notice board. Anyone with an interest in the Caribbean is welcome to join in. Guettarda 1 July 2005 13:37 (UTC)

Actual flag[edit]

The actual region flag is here; I love MARTINIque. I'd include it myself, but I'm not sure whether to remove the unofficial snake flag entirely or where to put it if not. Any comment from the regular editors of this article? —Nightstallion (?) 16:31, 27 February 2006 (UTC)

The flag you linked to is actually the flag of the département, it is not the flag of the région. Hardouin 12:19, 4 April 2006 (UTC)
That would be of relevance if each of the four départements d'outre-mer were not also its own région d'outre-mer... ;) —Nightstallion (?) Seen this already? 20:01, 4 April 2006 (UTC)
Martinique has both a general council (as a département) and a regional council (as a region), the flag/logo linked above is that of the general council, the one on the infobox is that of the regional council. The snake flag is the unofficial flag of Martinique commonly used, the official flag being that of France. Confusing ? :) Equendil 22:50, 20 May 2006 (UTC)

Formatting error[edit]

In Mozilla Firefox at least, it seems that the edit boxes have been pushed around to where they aren't supposed to be. Is there an easy fix for this?

Proposed WikiProject[edit]

There is now a proposed WikiProject for the Caribbean area, including Martinique, at Wikipedia:WikiProject Council/Proposals#Caribbean. Interested parties should add their names there so we can determine if there is enough interest to start such a project in earnest. Thank you for your attention. You have to realise that patois means jargon or differing dialect..In France patois has negative connotations..the non-standard varieties of French were called patois as please refer to it as Antillean Creole Domsta333 11:02, 9 March 2007 (UTC)

I do agree : "patois" is extremely pejorative in French. Créole is not a "dialect" of French, but an independant language with his own grammatical system - even if it uses many French words (but English does too...). Please, change this link for "Creole language". --Hubertgui (talk) 09:16, 24 July 2009 (UTC)

The entire history section, bar the last sentence, on this article has been lifted word for word from the following website :

As there is already an article on the history of Martinique, I shall be deleting this section unless anyone objects. The website is not even cited. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Alexllew (talkcontribs) 16:09, 6 August 2008 (UTC)

The paper Euro is the same design for all members - there is a map of the European Union on the back of all denominations of the Euro in which Martinique is featured along with French Guiana and Reunion.Aprhys (talk) 10:32, 9 December 2009 (UTC)

There is only one kind of Euros that is used From Martinique to Greece passing by Germany... —Preceding unsigned comment added by (talk) 14:19, 25 November 2010 (UTC)

French Translation Template[edit]

Can we remove the French Translation Template at the head of the article? It's been there for over four years, and I think the information in the article is fairly complete as it stands. I'm not sure the French Wikipedia could add much aside from updating the figures.Margolensis (talk) 23:00, 19 January 2014 (UTC)
