Mathematical modelling of infectious diseases → Disease modeling – Disease modeling is the common name for this concept. There is some "mathematical modelling of infectious diseases" which is not disease modeling, and there is disease modeling which is not "Mathematical modelling of infectious diseases", but usually they mean the same thing. Also, the current article content seems like disease modeling to me. I would like other comment. This is shared concept in medicine, public health, statistics, epidemiology, veterinary science, plant biology, and more, and both terms probably have varying use in all fields. Oppose – The proposed new title does not seem sufficiently precise for this article. Each word of the existing title is important. That these are mathematical models contrasts with, for example, animal models of disease. The infectious is important, as the models described in this article only apply to communicable diseases. They would not be at all suitable for diseases such as diabetes, cardiovascular disease or COPD. Mgp28 (talk) 22:48, 30 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Oppose Mgp28 brings up a good point in that the new title expands the scope of the article to unrelated concepts through ambiguity. I do agree that the title is a bit of a mouthful and perhaps a more WP:CONCISE title would be Epidemic modelling. As far as I am aware all models of epidemics are mathematical models, as the dynamics of these are difficult to reproduce in a lab so that it is measurable. If I am wrong there it would be appropriate to include somewhere in Wikipedia regardless. ― Synpath 17:35, 2 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Epidemic modelling seems reasonable to me. I marginally prefer the current title but not enough to disagree over it.

It's worth noting that if this page did move to Epidemic modelling then Epidemic model should probably redirect to this rather than to Compartmental models in epidemiology. Mgp28 (talk) 16:59, 3 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Oppose The article does not cover the mathematical modeling of, e.g., tumors within an individual body or illnesses caused by nutrient deficiency. The title should indicate what the article is about. Currently, it does, at the price of being a little long (but maybe not overly so). XOR'easter (talk) 15:07, 5 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
