Pre-SEPTA History[edit]

Too much of the history is in the route description section. Somebody should do something about this. --DanTD 01:23, 7 September 2012 (UTC)

Sofixit - Also, you need to link your userpage from your sig. :) Mitch32(Victim of public education, 17 years and counting) 01:48, 7 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, I can't do that. User:Imzadi1979 told me about this just before the end of August, and what he was telling me to do, I couldn't do. So I resorted to using the Signature and Timestamp tool button, which just stopped working for me yesterday. I went to the talk page on this, but nobody has answered me. --DanTD 19:18, 7 September 2012 (UTC)
You should be able to access my preferences. It should work, I'm not understanding what the problem is.---DanTD (talk) is your signature. I just tested it in my own sig thing, it works for me. Check-box the [Treat as wiki markup] box and hit CTRL+F5 on a Windows Computer. Mitch32(Victim of public education, 17 years and counting) 18:28, 13 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, I did that, and that didn't work either. --DanTD 18:34, 13 September 2012 (UTC)
Let's try this again; Nope. Still no link. -----DanTD (talk) 18:41, 13 September 2012 (UTC)

Paved-over crossings[edit]

The article states that "In the segment from Cheyney Station (the last station in Delaware County) to West Chester Station, SEPTA gradually paved over all crossings." I find this claim dubious, so I'm going to remove it. I have no primary source basis for my suspicion, so I'm going to put my rationale here:

 1. The statement is not in the citation given, so it is possibly fabricated/WP:OR.
 2. Google Earth shows no paved-over crossings.
 3. The statement contradicts other portions of the article. Supposedly, "Amtrak maintenance trains use the line to carry track ballast from a quarry in Glen Mills." Unless Amtrak's maintenance trains magically don't derail on paved-over crossings, the proposed pave-overs cannot have occurred closer inbound than the quarry. Furthermore, "the Glen Mills-West Chester segment is operated by heritage railway West Chester Railroad," so that section cannot be paved-over either! That leaves what track lies between the quarry and Glen Mills station proper, a very short section of track without any road crossings on Google Earth.

I am aware that these issues are also consistent with tracks being reinstalled subsequent to an over-paving. After all, the West Chester Railroad only began service 10 years after cessation of SEPTA service, and 5 years after the line was declared derelict. However, I personally doubt they would have begun as a volunteer operation, if the tracks had indeed been paved over. If anyone was alive before 1998 and disputes my deletion, feel free to add the removed sentence back in, cite a source indicating such crossings were paved over, and delete my comments here. 128.135.100.108 (talk) 01:05, 5 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

 • There's a long-standing problem with improperly-sourced negative SEPTA commentary on this project; I suspect you've identified another example of it. An examination of an archived version of the source supports West Chester–Cheyney being taken out of service but I didn't find anything in there about paving over crossings. Line vs service[edit]

@Dough4872: it's actually about fifty/fifty now, all the ex-Reading lines (correctly, in my view) make the distinction between a line and a service. What in particular do you object to? I think my change is more accurate without confusing the reader. Mackensen (talk) 23:46, 27 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

You can make the notations in the infobox that it is a service but keep the infobox style the same with the colored header. Warminster Line is a good example of what this infobox should look like. Dough4872 23:53, 27 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, I didn't mean to remove the colored header, that's an oversight. Mackensen (talk) 00:00, 28 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Move upon resumption of service to Wawa Station?[edit]

Should we move this article to Media/Wawa Line once service is restored to Wawa station? It seems like the run will start on August 21, so that's likely a good date for move? TartarTorte 13:43, 29 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, the article should be moved to that title and updated on that date to reflect the extension of service to Wawa. Dough4872 15:22, 29 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Only if SEPTA rebrands the service, which they presumably will. Mackensen (talk) 15:34, 29 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Per the Philadelphia Inquirer, it seems like they're planning to. TartarTorte 15:54, 29 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
