Removal of 2nd paragraph[edit]

The paragraph which began "One essential feature of the Meehanite method is that the molten iron is allowed to cool slightly below its melting point..." has been removed. The statement is patently wrong. If you cool an iron to below its melting point it will be frozen and inoculant cannot be added to it. The person who wrote this may have confused the statement somehow in that the Meehanite process depends on measuring the amount of undercooling in the base iron. I will attempt to work on this article to make it more encyclopedic.

This is a mess[edit]

This article is blatantly written in terms of an advertisement, and from its tone most likely by the company in question's marketing department. Somebody with more knowledge of the iron industry needs to review this, if it even is worth having an article on. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 109.147.177.241 (talk) 16:23, 31 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Meh. "Mess" is too much. It's a trade name that still requires a license if other companies want to use it. Of course the original patents would be expired, but the trade name status can still be enforced. It's a licensing thing, kind of like how franchising also is. If you want to have an independently owned Coca-Cola bottling plant, you have to license the name from Coca-Cola corp. As for notability, yes, it's notable, because in the machine tool building industry, the name is used frequently (i.e., Meehanite is called out by name) with reference to the castings that form the base, bed, and frame of machine tools. As for advert language, some adjectives could be deleted, but that's about it. For example, in the first paragraph, as for "specific and carefully controlled conditions", well, that's true (you could delete "carefully"); "precise internationally recognized specifications"—again true (you could delete "precise"); "according to Meehanite"—again true; "uniform soundness, consistent physical and mechanical properties and dependable performance"—again true, which is why it's specified for machine tool beds (you could delete "dependable"). Feel free to delete the adjectives, but "mess", no, and "even worth having", yes. — ¾-10 23:54, 1 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]
