History of this article[edit]
This article was created in 2009, and immediately prodded and AfD'ed (see Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Merkwelt). I think there is a good chance it would have survived the AfD, but the creator went into a fury, moved most of the text into the consciousness article, and vandalized his own article, after which it was turned into a redirect. I don't believe the material belongs in the consciousness article, and I am certain there are enough sources to justify a separate article, so I have resurrected the previous text and souped it up a bit with a little more text and some refs to show that the term has actually been used by reputable sources.
